I recognize that Bradley is a genius and I'm one of the biggest sublime fans.. but I had no idea SO many of their songs are covers. It's like 80% he just changed them/mixed them and combined them. I'm not gonna lie I'm a little sad that he didn't write all this stuff himself. Am I alone in this? how do most of you feel?
@zipzip82393 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I still like them but it honestly ruined their music a bit for me. I didn't realize Brad ripped off soooooo much.
@burtzum42533 жыл бұрын
He didn't rip off shit you absolute ape hangers. Don't you realize that in the lbc there was rappers like snoop dog and shit making hip-hop which is 100% music from jazz or funk they didn't play guitar or sing like Bradley. hes also paying respect to the reggie musicians that inspired him
@bradendocherty48163 жыл бұрын
It actually made me appreciate bradley as a boss DJ even more
@th3w1ldrov3r_Ай бұрын
It just shows that Brad loved this music and wanted to pay tribute. All bands have influences that can be heard. The sound of Eric Bud and Brad is still Sublime. And they did have a decent amount of pure original music. Santeria, same in the end, Burritos, Paddle out, Romeo… Slow Ride, Right back… their original songs are just as cool.

Mr. funktuall, these are the three greatest videos ive ever seen!! i knew brad sampled a lot of different music, but this left me in awe! KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, and thanks so much for sharing yours!! Long live sublime and great music!

Man the Sublime videos are simply amazing dude, my Dad always told me about some reggae singer Clement Irie who he works with in SoFla who was big in Jamaica, when I heard Caress Mi Down it blew my mind, small world!
@komickaze8510 жыл бұрын
Great videos dude. Sublime is my favorite band of all-time, and while I knew most of these, there were a few I didn't, especially Doin' Time, and some of the hip-hop references. I've yet to get around to actually downloading Rewind Selector, which is basically all the songs with the bands/singers Bradley and his crew sampled. Bradley had one hell of a collection of music, as music was his life. Your video makes me want to check out all that old-time reggae and truly understand Bradley's genius. I guess that's why Rome will never compare to Brad, simply because he doesn't have the true reggae influences. I just love your enthusiasm as well. I can tell you're a superfan, and I totally am somewhere on that wavelength. I just don't have all those old records and tracks to show for it, although someday I know I will. It is an inevitability.
@lstynerl10 жыл бұрын
check out the rewind selector if you haven't already, also i have every bootleg from them pm me if you would like them. over 400 songs!
@komickaze8510 жыл бұрын
lstynerl I don't have the official Rewind Selector, but I did download the original songs from it that I liked. I have about 35-40 bootleg songs as well, ones that I couldn't get anywhere else. I have a list of all his bootlegs, and I download the ones that I've never heard before. If it's just another live version of a song I already have 3 live versions of, I skip it. I have over 200 Sublime songs in total, which is comprised of all their albums, and a lot of bootlegs, including the ones that were on the EUTS DVD that I enjoyed. Thanks for the offer, though. There's 3 or 4 other bands in this genre I'm really digging right now (Matisyahu, Dirty Heads, Pepper, LBDA), so I've got enough music for now. Maybe later, though.

Rome does have tho's Influences, he was raised on Reggae and hiphop..
@kevincerecer17674 жыл бұрын
Andrew Brunelle You can’t compare Rome with Brad. Obviously they grew up with different influences but you gotta give it to Rome for being original and not sampling and mashing everything.

That's was the whole point to recreate such amazing n inspiring music and make something new n fresh for that time but at the same time still kept it underground with old school hits , if anything Bradley is the genuine creator of recreating great music the right way unlike the new era music were everything yu here is off of something butbjust wasn't did right never going to be better than Bradley himself obviously giving great tribute to his lifestyle and music inspiration.

Mind is blown. Whoa. I'm a huge Sublime fan and it's all love for Bradley but it does make me feel a little weird that he directly lifted so many exact lyrics and guitar riffs and melodies. Did his estate pay massive royalties to all of these artists he borrowed from after the Sublime self titled album blew up?
@rickeyryan3036 жыл бұрын
It was infulencs to him, he didn't rip them off, and no he never got sued he crdited ever sample, and besides, Regga artis loved it because it got reggae to the masses .. specialy the regga expolstion in the U.K in the late 70's and 80's..
@joshualivingston78235 жыл бұрын
No they didn't. I've met and worked with a few of these artist that Sublime "covered". Many of these artist never received 1 cent to this very day from the estate of Bradley Nowell. Frankie Paul before his passing just learned that Sublime covered his song "Get Ready". The self titled album sold millions and Frankie Paul died nearly pennyless smh...
