But they did tell you the entire plot. It's a love story about a man "submerged" in deep political turmoil in a foreign country while the woman is literally submerged in an ocean exploration where their equipment malfunctions. Both lovers will face many near-death moments but their love for each other will carry each other through the hardships. The first line in the trailer even tells you how deep in turmoil each character will be. "So, what's there in the deepest part of the sea?" How did you even miss the plot? It's so right there in your face.

People saying they don't get the plot, you just need to open your minds. The story is basically two individuals who find love in one another at the time when they have to depart. The movie is basically going to show two stories that are on both sides of the spectrum. They shadow one another in similarity. When he's imprisoned and shrouded in darkness, she is submerged so deep in the ocean that it becomes pitch black. Its like saying, "no matter how far apart we are, we will always be together."

Clearly none of you know anything about the academy awards. You don’t ‘win’ let alone get nominated for a role that isn’t real. Like Hugh will never get nominated for playing Logan just as much Chris hemsworth will never be Oscar nominated for playing the role of Thor. The reason actors in sci-fi movies don’t get Oscar nominated is because it isn’t ‘real’. Do we know exactly how one would react to superhero’s flying around in front of us having super powers? No. On the other hands when a story is told in a film (lots of times they’re based on true events) in which we know can really happen, those are the roles that get nominated because those performances are based on reality and we the audience know that, and can relate.

This movie was seriously amazing, people only rate it "disappointing" because the message wasn't blatantly obvious (I read reviews and most people said they "didn't get what the plot was about)- and it really only had one message, the love between two people even if they were world a part. The entire movie was the message, to be honest, and it's really well done IF you are a person who finds beauty in Danny (Vikander) and James's (McAvoy) tragic love story and beautiful connection. I don't want to go into detail in knowing that some people may not have seen it, but it's a recommend if you're a person who is able to see the deep and meaningful behind a "simple plot". I'm not sure what people expected from this movie to rate it so low, but I do believe it deserves a lot more credit.
