@@wyldcat9396 It's as if the devs thought that they needed to make it less terrifying. Everything underwater has too much bioluminescence, and the night sky is lit up by auroras. The open waters and dark nights in the original were key features. It's a shame they dropped both of those for Below Zero. And along with a terrible storyline and main character of Below Zero, the on-land portions were dreadful. There are multiple ways to get into all the locations of Subnautica. Below Zero has exact paths you must take. I spent hours on that damn landmass just trying to figure out how to get to a location. I pray that they learned their lesson and don't set 1/3 of Subnautica 3 on land, and let the player be the main character instead of a written character.

I liked that aspect. While clearly unrealistic, it brought a slight realism to the inventory system, a bit of micromanagement, but not enough to be repulsive, and a strategic element to what and how much you can bring and/or gather on your excursions. This game is one of the best and most unique of survivalcraft games I've played. Awesome setting, great score/sound design. The tinge of terror that comes with many enviroments is perfectly fitting for a stranded survivor on an alien planet. There's many moments of wonder at it's natural beauty, like the cove tree, the giant mushroom, etc. which again, is perfectly apt for the premise of the story. I felt like I explored the secrets of a wondrous and dangerous planet. There's a long list of minor misteps, technical issues, and in my opinion the aggressive fauna that are not leviathans aren't nearly dangerous enough, but the positives are tough to outweigh. 9/10 can't be missed if you like these kinds of games.

I did play BZ and while i liked it, it didn't click in the same way as the first one, mainly because the map felt so small in comparison and while the lilypad islands and the tree spires were really fun to be in, the other areas didn't seem fun enough to actually stay there and build a base. Every plant, Critter or fish has been placed for a reason, and it gives life to the game. - It has what most games does not: Hints, yet not holding your hand; and allow you to play. naturally, you're drawn to the big ship, and at some point you push your limits. You very well can hunt in this game, with the right skills you can remove your restraint called fear via that empowering feeling earned by piloting a Prawn. With the Stasis Rifle and a Prawn, even Leviathans are light work.

I really hope the sequel of Subnautica would do the same, as Totk did do to Botw.

As a space nerd i love how the moons look, and i have concluded that there are approximately 4 other planets (because of obviously brighter stars) and the possibility that subnautica 3 could maybe incluede that

The fact that the players life pod is completely intact and is not damaged and floating systems are still working is very shocking as compared to all the lifeboats which had some damage or aur failure in their systems

I adored subnautica when it first came out, and it still has a very special place in my heart. It’s an amazing game overall and sometimes I wish they could rerelease the game with updated graphics, but I still love it as it currently stands. I can’t say the same for BZ, I bought it hoping for something that would give me a similar experience, one of scary silence and adventure. It was the opposite of that and felt small in comparison. I’ll always go back to subnautica, but not BZ.

With how Below Zero was, it made me wonder if Subnautica was an accidental success. It felt like they had no clue what made the original so appealing to people.

I heard a podcast with the CEO of Unknown Worlds a few years ago and I think he alluded to there being very different opinions in the company when it comes to where to take BZ. He also didn't really work on BZ because he and a lot of the team were quite sick with Subnautica after working so hard and so long on the first one. So I think the people who made the first one great just didn't really have enough of a voice in making BZ.

I reeeally hope game 3 will be awesome as well. And maybe we even get one or two optional surviver companions? I wouldn't mind having another dude or dudette to play cards with after a stressfully close encounter with a leviathan 😂 or if not we could just choose to ignore their existence and they'll fight for themselves. I'm currently playing part 1, just finished Below zero a few days ago. Also I wouldn't mind cooperating with an Alien again 😋 that's the other favorite part of the game, discover an unknown alien species that doesn't want to kill us immediately. Such a nice change 😊 Aaand there's one thing I really wish for in the 3rd game. The option to map out the ocean ourselves. Like with screenshots and coordinates and markers for wrecks, alien bases, etc. Maybe we could even have a strategy room where the map is on a light table or something. I mean yeah we're stranded but also the only surviver of a planet with no map available. So why not make a map when already swimming around?

What funny is that back in 2020 when I thought about playin subnautica (because last time i played it was in 2018) i was thinking to wait till it's gonna be 5 years and here we are now. Already +10 hours on save in just 2 days and much more stuff completed then back in 2018, I missed this game af

When I went to 4546B, I was amazed of the beauty of the planet first step out of my life pod. I was surrounded by water and did not know what to do when I jumped in I was surrounded by beauty.
