Great video❗️A little over a year ago I had never worked a Sudoku Puzzle 🧩, I bought a book 📖 of 500 puzzles at the local Dollar Store came home and got so frustrated with directions so I started looking on KZbin for videos and finally found your channel. I started back with your first videos and worked my way up to today’s videos and now I am even getting ahead of you sometimes in your videos. Thank you so much for opening up Sudoku to me, I have worked well over 1500 puzzles and really enjoy them. I have watched every video and I am still lurning❗️👍✅

First time I come across this channel. I really appreciate the energy and passion while showing some of these techniques. Yes, there were easier ways to come to the same conclusions in some spots, but this is a tutorial and what matters is demonstrating the technique to help with those puzzles where there is no way forward without knowing the technique. I really wish that I had come across this channel back when I was doing research to learn just such techniques! One piece of advice that helped me more than anything when moving to pen and paper from using software that would eliminate candidates automatically when filling a cell, was to always finish dealing with the consequences of adding a number before moving to the next by deleting ever other candidate from the cell and just leaving a single little number in it until I was done with all the consequences of adding a large digit. Being disciplined with this can lead to a lot of saved time.

Thanks for another great puzzle done from start to finish. I find it very helpful when you do the hard puzzles from start to finish. I actually could not finish this puzzle when I first attempted to do it before watching the video. When I watched this video, I found the technique I was missing, which was the X Y wing you found at approx 39:00 minutes into the video. Being able to see the technique used on a real puzzle will help me hopefully to remember this technique. I saw you mention in other videos how it is hard to remembering all the different techniques. I am finding that so true. Thanks again!

I do not know if you see these comments but i know it at least will help the algorithm and you deserve all the love i can send. I am autistic and i have been practicing sudoku for months since i emailed you and you answered with help. I finally got myself to a place where i was getting stuck and ready to get on here and absorb all your teachings. I am tickled beyond belief that i have picked up the first method easily. I am half way through the vlog but i wanted to show my deep appreciation for all you do by leaving a comment. Because comments help the algorithm, when i learn from one of your vlogs going forward, i will do my best to jump on and leave comments since its the very least i can do for all your hard work. Thank you for your videos. I can see i will be turning to them more going forward as i dive in deeper to harder sudokus. I got to the point where iam blowing through all the supposed harder ones and it was leaving me frustrated. I am now using yours and cracking the cryptics puzzles to fulfill the need for difficult. At 10:10 I saw that there were three cells that could hold the number 5, but you only signaled two of them. I did not understand your reasonings for ignoring the third cell on the last block that could also have a 5 value. But some time later, when you filled in ALL the possible values for the still empty cells, I noticed that the candidate number 5 missing, was put there. Greetings.

I was already pretty good at doing sudokus I found in some magazines but never found one that stumped me … … until I noticed the interesting titles on some of your later videos! So, I copied the puzzle from this video before watching you solve it. Easy I thought, but soon I hit a brick wall. So, I ran your video and learned a couple new techniques The mallet The xy wing Without these, you just couldn’t solve this! Guess I was just lucky that all the other “difficult” sudokus I did in the past weren’t “diabolical” Now I’m going to go back through your other videos to see what other secrets you have to share! I usually fill out all possible numbers and you are right, it does create a mess at times. At about 22:00 block 9 and column 8 had combination of 3 locked in that block of 159. I use that to block out any other 159 in that column or block . But doing that may not have revealed the XY wing. I always miss the wings and get stuck. thanks.

Hi Robin. That was great to watch even if I was shouting out "you missed one over there" the system worked and you got there in the end (which is a valuable lesson in itself). There is a fine line between having just a few numbers in a cell and lots and it can get quite confusing but having a systematic method does help. I am still trying to learn how to spot xy wings as they can be the difference between cracking the puzzle or just going round in circles.
@SudokuGuy2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! The task of only having 2 possibilities in and empty cell is very valuable. Spotting and XY wing requires 2 little number in a cell and this helps.

Is it a matching pair with 2s and 8s in the bottom right block? Shouldn't you remove the 1s and a 5 that are in the same cells as the matching pair?
@SudokuGuy3 жыл бұрын
Sorry no as there are several other ones in that block. I was hoping that you had spotted a hidden matching pair, but no.
@tade15043 жыл бұрын
@@SudokuGuy I just cant help but see a matching pair in that block. You can see it before you write the little numbers on the rest of the board. Pause at 14:44 and try to find where 2 and 8 can go in the bottom right block. 😊 There's a 2 and an 8 in c8 so they both have to go in r8.

when you were looking at block nine with the two twos in the row (21 minute mark). how do you know the twos has to be in block nine? block seven has two twos in a row which could be used to eliminate the twos in block nine.
@SudokuGuy2 жыл бұрын
Good Question viet. Block 9 MUST have a 2 and there are 2 2's in the block which are also part of a row. ONE of them must be a 2. Look at the end of the puzzle and you will see that one of those 2's is a 2. Hope this helps; Watch it again if that helps/

I suggest you look at tutorial #67. I cover the XY wing in this tutorial. Hope it helps. Spotting them takes practice. Hang in there. Robin
@samuso863 жыл бұрын
Easy way to look at it is there's a 382 triple in box 1 (top left) which forces a 69 pair and the 1 in the middle. Then there's a 28 pair in box 9 (bottom right) caused by the 2 and the 8 higher up in column second from the end. This also gives you a 951 triple in the same box.

This is a really challenging puzzle. I have been using this puzzle to test my skills on locked little numbers and got stuck on illimitation so referred to this tutorial up to the point of the x-y wing. I then watched tutorial #42 to understand a wing - but you said in #42 look out for 3 numbers at the pivot but you have identified 2 numbers (1,2) in this tutorial. Perhaps I have missed another tutorial. However in the same block '8' there appears to be a pivot (4,8,9) below the 3 in cell 9 that align vertically with a 4,9 in block 2 and 1,4 in the same block 8 . Could I have also use that or am I misunderstanding how to spot a wing? Thanks very much in advance.
@SudokuGuy2 жыл бұрын
Good question Robert. The pivot can have 2 numbers or 3 numbers Generally an XY wing has 2 number in the pivot while an XYZ wing has 3. Hope this helps.

At around 22:20, you discovered that the 2 cells in the bottom right block can only be a 2 or 8. That's a matching pair! I know that since they are matching pairs, you can eliminate the other small numbers in those cells. What are the ramifications of that? LOL. I'm learning from your videos! You made me a subscriber.
