Im new to your channel and I love it. Thank you for the effort. Very much appreciated. I started doing sudoku online on an application but I thought it would be better to challenge myself and do it using a book:) Im an intermediate player but I want to be a pro so I started looking for ways to help me get out of the situation where I get completely stuck! I was addicted long ago, and I may have spoke too soon. I’m still struggling with some of the difficult puzzles. Granted I’m in a dollar store sudoku book so the puzzles may be done poorly. I still have more of your videos to check out next weekend! Maybe I’ll get through these hard puzzles yet. So far all the other tips you’ve given were logic I was already using, just didn’t have a name for them. Thanks so much!

Can the Y and Z be the same two numbers? For example pivot x=2,3,4, y= 2,4 can z also be a 24 or must it be 4,3? Second question can y and/or z have more than two numbers?

Hello Stuart. Yes they could. and generally the pivot is the only one that can have 3 numbers.

Unless I missed it you did not give the logic behind this. I prefer to take each of the cells in turn which have a coresponding number to the Pivot cell and look at the effect of making that number true and so forth. If the result shows conflict then that is NOT the number. It's very hard to describe somethings but JB below says it I think.

Good Question. If you try and include the etxra cell with the arms of the clock, system it will not work. In each case we have 3 little numbers involved and when a cell has another number e.g. a 1 then the 4 in that cell cannot be used. In each scenario, a cell which has a different number becomes the big number e.g. 1 I hope this helps.

I think, the way it makes sense to me is this: The shape means the shared number must exist in one of those slots, therefore the rest can be erased, determined by the shape the number makes. What I don’t understand is why that shape is a rule. I understand enough to apply it, but the curiosity continues

Yes it does. For very difficult puzzles, because you need to know many technqiues and patterns to look for.
