For God’s sake, the issue immigration has become entangled with that of asylum. Asylum numbers are minute compared to everything else. immigration numbers have increased since Brexit with people coming in (with no real security working in poor conditions) to sustain our collapsing economy. 45% of the immigration numbers is due to international students who are are. courted because the universities need their income and bring a lot of money into the wider economy - nearly all return home afterwards. I don’t even know why they are included in immigration statistics. The rise of immigration numbers which the far right obsesses, is a) the result of Tory policiespost Brexit by and b) constructed out of the way they view the statistics. One has to be exceedingly stupid and totally incompetent, not to realise there is a difference between 250 men, all trained in safety and fire fighting, with half on shift at any one time, and 500 young men with possibly poor understanding of english language, with no training in dealing with fires, no safety training, all trying at the same time, to vacate a structure designed for the evacuation of fewer trained, fit men.
