A recent test had a fasting BG of 113. After 3 weeks of a very healthy diet and introducing a good 40 minutes of exercise a day ( cross trainer 10 min, resistance exercises 20 min and then 10 min on a rowing machine, my fasting BG is down to 85 and my test 2 hrs after what I call my 'treat' breakfast (homemade bread, butter, seeds on top, bacon and fresh tomato) it was still only 108. I've lost 3Kg and no longer have to get up in the night. I'm pretty happy with that so far. Want to lose another 10kg. Most mornings breakfast is Chia seed pudding with fruit.

The only time my levels are in the green is when I'm fasting. It's so depressing.

I follow all of these tips and yet my fasting blood glucose levels are between 160 and 180. It’s very frustrating because I’m eating almost 0 carbs. I’m prioritizing protein. I exercise daily. I don’t eat any processed foods. I get eight hours of sleep every night. I do all the things I’m supposed to do and yet my blood sugar averages 160 to 180.

Dr I lower to 79 to 94 my sugar instead of 150 to 167 in the morning by taking 1/2 of pill Metformin and glipizide before going to bed and I eat very heathy during the day and my sugars are normal, I wish I didn’t have to take medicine but I feel great I used the cinnamon and walk and stretch and teas during the day. No medicine. Thank you so much for all you teach us God bless you God bless you!

I am not diabetic but use a CGM anyway. Fascinating insights regarding waking glucose volatility vs sleeping volatility. Midnight to noon shows a sinusoidal dip low (95 to 70 mg/dL) and noon to midnight shows a peak high (95 to 120 mg/dL). It is entertaining in the afternoon jousting with my candy and honey tea habit to keep glucose < 100. During water only 3-hour zone-2 bike rides the glucose rises from about 90 up to 110 and then after two hours begins a slow descent to ~90 after three hours to end of ride. This sets up a low fasting glucose level of about 70 in the following evening during sleep. I recommend, healthy or not, that you get hold of a CGM and learn from it.

If I'm on 'Keto' diet and I'm consuming well under 50g of carbs per day, why cannot I have red meat/saturated fat? I don't need to lose weight just lower blood sugar and fight my insulin resistance, I thought while being on Keto fat is not a bad thing ?

@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
I understand how cutting down on meat can be a bit of a challenge, especially if it's a regular part of your diet. The recommendation is typically related to reducing saturated fats and improving overall heart and metabolic health, which can be crucial for managing conditions like diabetes. You can always incorporate lean meats, plant-based proteins, or other alternatives to help strike a balance. If you'd like, I can share some ideas for healthier protein options!
