THIS is why I didn't watch this before. This looks SO GOOD that now I want to make it along with your carrot cake for tomorrow. This looks so good! I’ll definitely be making this..my daughter’s hubby LOVES anything with Oreos! Sam, try cutting pies with a shorter knife. I find that makes it a bit easier. I understand you that you recommend certain ingredients & methods for certain recipes for the best results according to your taste buds & your experiences. However, we may have personal preferences for substitutes for specific ingredients or using a different method & I hope you understand that too & sometimes, we may not have access to certain ingredients or tools. Even though you recommend certain ingredients or methods do you still encourage experimentation & flexibility? There is nothing wrong with playing around with any of your recipes. I might want to try low fat cream cheese for this Oreo pie & see what happens & what it tastes like. At home, there is no must when it comes to following a recipe. It’s a free for all at home with recipes.

Experimentation is certainly welcomed and you should certainly adjust things to your tastes! I have really only tried it the way it's presented which is why I recommend it that way. I also tend to get complaints when the alterations don't turn out and I am blamed for a bad recipe. As for low fat cream cheese here, the reason I don't recommend it is because it probably won't set up quite as well.

A pre-made crust is MUCH less expensive, than buying the $5-$7 package of cookies. Also, I don’t own a pie plate, and would need to purchase one.

You can use a pre made crust, just note they are typically smaller so you will have leftover filling and a smaller pie. Or you can skip this one.
