Angela is a Metal Goddess. I miss her so much. Angela was brutal. I much preferred her as the vocalist for AE. Alissa is good, but Angela was demonic in her vocals.

Angela and Alissa are great. Haven't checked out much of Arch Enemy's stuff with Alissa but Alissa with the Agonist was on its own level. Their original vocalist Johan was pretty good too. Arch Enemy is good in every era. Different strokes for different folks

just one thing: Angela was NOT Arch Enemy's original vocalist, that was Johan Liiva long before her. Arch Enemy are one of THE classic bands of swedish melodic deathmetal along with the likes of At The Gates, In Flames and Dark Tranquility.

There are two key components for doing harsh vocals, in general. Breath support and a good technique. Angela run around about 1 hour every day to enlarge her lungs´ capacity. She was the vocalist for Arch Enemy for nearly 14 years (2000-2014). As one of the first female harsh vocalists, she started out when there was very little known about how it should be done in the way as not to mess up your voice permanently. She was treated for vocal cord nodules in 2002 and became one of the "students" of Melissa Cross´ school of screaming. She also inspired Floor Jansen, who saw her performing during some concerts, to learn more about harsh vocals years ago. Angela was featured in Amaranthe - Do or Die from 2020. Whom she is also the manager off, besides Arch Enemy. In total she manages 4 bands and is now 46.

Angela is special. She proved the exception which is now becoming the rule. Angela fronted, in every way, a savage melodic death metal band and proved a woman could stand with any man in the realm of harsh vocals and heavy as hell music. Since then many women have followed in her wake, now it should be no surprise that a woman can belt out vocals like this, from Alissa her replacement to Tatiana, Courtney, Melissa, even Floor when she drops growls. But Angela was among the first, a true pioneer.

Angela Gossow is a beast, and still the manager of AE. Her abs are goals too, just saying. :) The 2016 performance is iconic, but that was half a decade ago and Alissa's voice has grown since then, so while doing it isn't a mistake it would be good reacting to something more recent too. Another good one for Angela is "We Will Rise MFVF 2010."

When they released the “Nemesis” music video in 2006, my world changed. This show really demonstrates Angela on stage, not much going on but walk here, wide stance and let the Bombs Drop. Wasn't stoked when she first joined the band, had really liked Carcass and Johan on vocals. Saw them on Wages Of Sin tour at the local dive bar and the smaller venue was perfect, she killed it so I had faith they knew what they were doing. Alissa is the complete package as a frontwoman, Angela made an excellent choice there. Melodic Death Metal isn't very Deathly but I guess ya gotta call it something, Mike's lyrics would never be confused with Benton or Schuldiner's.

Holy Moses-World Chaos ( Live@Waken 2003) Sabina Classen is the matriarch of Death and Thrash, she and her band have been killing it on stage and in the studio since the early 80s. Also Johan Liiva was the original vocalist and was replaced by Angela in the year 2000. Earlier Arch Enemy (pre Anthems of Rebellion album) are faster and heavier. Not taking anything away from the two ladies who followed, just saying.
