Danny’s response: "Drives me insane when people make shit up about our musical and/or personal dynamics to explain or justify something they don’t like. Like it has to be someone’s fault and they have to point a finger. It can can ever just be that they don’t like it. So, to clear it all up: We make the music WE want to make. Ben writes the music, I hear it after it is done when I go in to write and record vocals. Nobody has every told anyone else what to create or what anything has to sound like. We make AA music, whatever that may be. Cool? Cool."

@@Technobolic If they want to sink into obscurity because of their decisions, I guess that's okay. We don't have to like their decisions, we just have to respect them. Similarly, we don't have to listen to their music if we don't like it. They'll find that you can't keep a band of their level together for long if people stop listening though. It's kinda sad, but they'll just have to realize that they did it to themselves.

Somethings just wrong with the way AA songs are being mixed lately. This song had the potential to be catchy and heavy at the same time but whoever is behind the mix consistently wants to turn everything into radio music. The band may be approving it, but it’s not even their fault at this point. Everything is super refined to the point where it lacks character. Listen to the guitars. Is that even a metal tone? And the drums sound like they’re out of a fallout boy song. If it wasn’t for Danny, I could guarantee nobody would recognize this as an AA song

This guy should be top comment.
@Lord_Burrito5 жыл бұрын
Can agree, and I mentioned it in my comment too; Lyrically it really doesn’t feel as good as their older stuff either, it feels so cookie-cutter for the genre and it just doesn’t catch my eye the way their old stuff did. Their older records were powerful, they showed absolute raw emotion, and they didn’t hold back on just “letting it all out”, in a sense. Since their self-titled, they’ve gone down a road of ‘experimentation’ that appeals much more to the broader audience, and not as much throwing a bone to their own. Asking Alexandria really seems to play it safe with these new tracks, and you can tell Danny’s been influenced more by his solo projects and wants to lead AA to something similar.

The mix sounds great to me, the drums actually sound better than ever on this in my opinion. As for the guitars, they sound heavy enough to me, just because they aren't brutal drop tuned guitars doesn't mean it isn't still metal.
@helendrel2404 жыл бұрын
Being able to change your sound and still maintain your style shows massive maturity. Everybody's saying where's the screaming where's the heaviness? So you think after 10 + years they'll stay the same. A good band should have the ability to explore different elements of style and honestly they're pulling it off. Other bands have done the same and sound even better. So stop expecting the same shit every time. Let the band have the freedom to showcase what they feel ffs.

@Lord_Burrito4 жыл бұрын
Can you really say that they've matured? Maybe from their "core sound", sure, but their lyrics absolutely do not show that they've "matured", look at their newest song; 'Antisocialist'.
@Lord_Burrito4 жыл бұрын
@@99blackbirds The second verse of the song: "Please stay away from me You keep on talking with nothing to say I don’t wanna hear about your life You make me wanna eat a bullet It’s on my forehead Four letters, off And go forth and spread the word I don’t wanna know you Please stay away from me ‘Cause I don’t fucking like you" That's about as edgy as my profile picture. I don't generally think that AA themselves have matured as a band over all their time, especially since Stand Up and Scream, but the misconception of them "maturing" is really absurd considering the fact that their lyricism is (still) edgy as can be, and doesn't show them taking a more "professional" approach to it. I get the fact that as musicians, they create art to express themselves in whatever manner they see fit, and that they don't have to be "professional" per se, but this still looks relatively bad for them, if they keep writing like this.

The reason I'm personally not satisfied is because it's literally so 2013 Fall Out Boy, it's not even funny. Besides from the chorus, I can't tell the two bands apart. I can appreciate and understand the evolution of their music, but I'm not sure if I'm too jaded from their first records to see this being as enjoyable. These are catchy and have good rhythm to it, but the new stuff makes me miss the older stuff, and some newer spins on it. It doesn't feel as 'raw' and lyrically powerful as their old stuff used to, their self-titled had a couple good ones in those respects, but these last two singles really haven't done much for me there.

The fans seems to be displeased but as an outsider, I love this song. I love the semi whisper talking, the tone when they sing the lyrics, the lack of rhyming but theres still rhythm, the chorus when he says panic for the 3rd time, the drums and guitar. Its metal enough and rock enough without adding the screaming and other stereotypical aspects of metal music and i really feel like this will not only appeal to a broader audience

First time i heard AA, i really like it, good metalcore with unique electric elements. After this they go a bit lighter, but still okay, now they drop the metal and the unique sound out of their music, and make only pop. Shame this happened to BMTH too, but i guess money is money. In case of my soul recovery, i have to listen the Stand up and Scream album now.

i understand it now. the majority of AA's fans in general are much younger than the members of AA. so they dont share AA's maturity. AA are talking about politics in their songs now, and their music reflects their maturity too. but AA's fans can't relate to that. this actually reminds me of my own gripe with Linkin Park. the majority of LP's fanbase started complaining about LP sounding "soft" starting from the third album, i was one of them. they started talking abt politics in their 3rd and 4th album and i didnt like it. but now in my 30s i actually understand why bands abandon their original sound and angsty lyrics. the majority of u AA fans might not understand it now, but u eventually will...

I've loved AA ever since I met their music years ago and I still do (even though these last two tracks feel hollow tbt). What I really hate is that they market the heaviest snippets of the tracks to hype them up as if they are to be such and then comes the letdown. They did it with Eve (I Am Inequity teaser) where they took the only 'heavy' song on the album (I would assume they really would have released more like that on the album given the recent demo they released) as their marketing towards an unheavy album 🙁 P.S - Give it a year of milking so they release the 'heavy' demo of this 🙃

Lyric: Can you feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck? Can you feel your heart beating right out of your chest? Panic Panic There's somethin' strange going on in this room The walls are melting, I can hear the ceilin' screaming to come down I can't believe we built this room It was meant to be a sanctuary, not a prison There's something strange going on in this house It's like we're pushin' all these buttons, trying to start a war Amongst ourselves, but we don't know what we want All we know's that we don't want what they want What we want What they want What we want What we want Can you feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck? Can you feel your heart beating right out of your chest? Can you feel your bones ache like there's something within? Can you feel your blood pumping inside of your skin? Can you feel it? Panic, panic Can you feel it? Panic, panic There's something wrong with the castle they're in Watching over every single move that we make Try to see past their perfect smiles They were supposed to be protectors, not o-fucking-ppressors There's something wrong with the way that they speak Like the more they take from us, the better off that we'll be Anything to get the power they seek All I know's that they don't want what we want What we want What they want What we want What we want Can you feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck? Can you feel your heart beating right out of your chest? Can you feel your bones ache like there's something within? Can you feel your blood pumping inside of your skin? Can you feel it? Panic, panic Can you feel it? Panic, panic We don't want what they want They don't want what we want We don't want what they want And they don't care Panic Panic Panic

It’s honestly pretty heavy compared to their last record. I really dig the buildup in this song at the end. The riffs were different and semi heavy. The drums were a little heavier. They are trying to get back on that heavy side of AA everyone loved I feel.

Real fans are here to appreciate every new song and evolve with the band. Posers are here to complain that their music isn't the same. OFC its not. People get bored with the same repetitive shit. Asking is doing whats making them happy, and they know the real fans will stick around, so i doubt they are concerned with people leaving their fandom.
