Summertime Frog Fishing CATCHES BASS (Bank Fishing Tips)

Today's viDEBO is all about the FROG! I start off with a fast unboxing of lures from Scheels. I had to get some different braid for my frog reel. I picked up a few lures. However, the only thing I needed to catch fish was the SPRO frog!!! Enjoy some topwater frog fishing from the bank!

Where do you live- not exactly or anything I mean just the general area of the country? If you're in the southeastern US- join the crowd man- we're all on the struggle bus. This unbelievable, never ending rain has really screwed the season up for me, I haven't caught anything worth reeling in since Dec.- which was the last time we had normal water levels and clarity.

That is my kind of lake there, haha, and the top water frog is about the only thing that will get through all that stuff, which is how we frog fishing lovers prefer it, haha. Those Champ Swimmers are great, I rig them with a VMC 3/0 Drop Dead hook, 1/8oz. They come through heavy cover surprisingly well, and are very durable. Occasionally I get one that won't swim right, but that might be because I might have the screw lock on the hook slightly off center.

So I live about 1.5 hours from you. Usually up in iowa city at Mcbride on the bank. Always with a frog and im not having much luck in the heat. 7'3"..med heavy, fast action, with a black walking frog, or a lime green or white flipper frog. 50ibs moss braid. The hell am I doing wrong?

I wonder why Okuma doesn’t label their rods correctly. They have that frog rod labeled “Action - H”. It should be labeled Power -H, with Action referring to the flex as Fast, Moderate, etc. I noticed that with your MH or M rod as well (I forgot which one you have.). Nice frog fish by the way. Bassmaster Elite is in my town this week. I just met John Crews (Missile Baits and Spro) and talked with him for a few minutes. He did fantastic on Day 1 (13th).

I am going to order some of those frogs but DEBO you should do a demo on the Jackall Gavacho poppin frogs and the Jackall Kaera finesse frogs I'm just curious because I've heard really really good things from tacticalbassin about them and was just wondering if you could maybe demo them. After watching this , I now will have to up my line from 10 pound to at least 50-65 pound. I use to think that way : why get lines that big , biggest bass possible in my area is 5-6 pound max and that would be PB .. so 10 pound should be plenty .. but I never consider adding vegetation into the equation

Most amazing time to frog fish is at night (10 pm to 5:30 am) open water produces some donkeys and just about every other cast. I will admit that I do sneak in at forest preserves and have a grand old time but I know some places that are not preserves . Heavy slop during day time is really good too.

Debo, Have you ever tried live frogs? I'm curious as to how many fisherman actually do and how well they work. In my area frogs are everywhere and I'm sure fish eat them but I've never seen any frogs IN water bodies and of my now 3 seasons trying frog lures I don't know if it's my presentation (same as yours as well as I've tried all kinds of retrieves) or what but I have not gotten even one bite on a frog lure like you use. Popping frogs, yes, popping frog lures are a go to for bass where I am but they don't seem to have any interest in the round, rubber, ones like you use.
