Highlights from stage 15 of the Tour de France 2023. The peloton departs Les Gets for another massive day in the Alps, with 4,282m of climbing over 179km. The majority of climbing falls in the second half, and the final one-two punch of the Côte des Amerands (2.7km at 10.9%) and the climb to Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc (7km at 7.7%) makes for a brutal finish.

I’m a Dane, and he 95% nails Vingegaard (and the double a’s are pronounced like an å, which is tough). Are there any Finnish riders in the tour? Otherwise, I agree, Finnish (and Sri Lankan) names are the Ventoux of pronunciation
@Jtc00
@Jtc00 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelkorsgaardniel unfortunately no Finnish Riders this year on the tour. Jaakko Hänninen has been on the giro in 2022 and 2021. On the women's peloton there are a bit more riders. Anniina Ahtosalo, Wilma Murto and Lotta Henttala. Come to mind. Unfortunately there aren't too many Finnish Riders on the peloton. Probably one of the reasons why their names aren't pronounced too well.

What is it going to take before a spectator trying to take a selfie wipes out a mess of riders and badly injuries or even kills some of the riders. It is time for the organizing committee to take a stand on this matter and start arresting and fining spectators who cross the red line. This is getting ridiculous and hiding your head in the sand is not going to make the problem go away. In fact without enforcement, it wil only get worse.

Allegations of thumbtacks on the road; Pogacar cannot accelerate because the motorbikes are in the way (s14); Crash (s15) because of spectator action; Chris Neelans collides with a motorcycle (s15). The quality of cycling does not match the quality of the tour organization. TDF needs an audit.

Yes, but fans are part of the game since decades and riders like crowded routes. TDF is the only sport where fans can approch their heros. for many fans who wait during hours in the sunshine is just frustrating to see the cyclists only few seconds so they run alongside them to extend this furtive moment of pleasure (I don't excuse them). I've been 3 times on the road to watch TDF, when you see in live the cyclists whether first or last they seem all like great geants, and extatic feelings surround the fans.

Yup, too many morons who try to get their face on tele. I actually liked it the other day when some idiots were running like maniacs right next to the riders for as long as possible on a climb, but you could only see that from footage from above and they refused to show them in a close up shot from in front where they could have been identified. I think that was very deliberate so as not to encourage even more idiots to do it.

@@martinc.720 I live in France, Here every year the radio & TV media insist on safety instructions and good behavior with the tour caravan and the cyclists. French fans are doing well overall, but young fans from other countries are more excited and exuberant. When there is a gathering of people there is always a certain percentage of idiots, it's just a matter of statistics. Ok, why was the final climb split into two separate categorised climbs? It was pretty much one long uphill slog with about 1km of downhill between them. There are plenty of other big climbs with a short downhill section and there are many longer, higher climbs that remain uncategorised (including one today (Col de Fleuries)). GCN, it would be good to know the criteria that determines what is a climb and what isn’t and how they are categorised from 4 to HC.

True, yet you fail to take into account the logistics behind a fan getting to that spot. Some wait days for the race to pass by them in seconds. For a fan, it is also a big commitment. @@nikosvaultu mean his team beat Pogi? Without his team, he ain’t got a chance against Pogi.

By “boring” you mean really mean “smart”, right? I too prefer Pogacar’s style, but Vingegaard is simply riding to his strengths… strengths that soundly beat Pogacar last year. Pogacar is more explosive than Vingegaard but Vingegaard has better stamina. Today was a stage for Pogacar’s strengths with shorter climbs. Still, Pogacar was unable to take advantage. I think Vingegaard will try to kill Pogacar on the Col de la Lozeon on Wednesday - a climb that should suit him better… unless Vingegaard has earned a massive lead on the TT (highly unlikely), in which case there’ll be no need to burn unnecessary matches as Pogacar still too often does.

I am already looking into the future They can't cancel each other out every year at the Tour. These two young superstars should do this: 2024 Pog takes Vuelta and Giro vingo takes Tour 2025 vingo takes Giro and Vuelta pog takes Tour 2026 Showdown in the tour 2027 pog takes Giro and Vuelta Vingo takes tour. Instead of cancelling each other out they are basically equal, they will win 5 to 6 Grand Tour crowing the best ever each bring into the mix Roglic and Evanpoel and would be awesome. I would do it if I were Vingo or Pog.

What colour is your maillot Vingegaard? canary yellow or piss yellow? When are you going to make a real difference like the previous yellow jerseys used to do it...?

What are you on about, he's doing exactly what all other yellow shirts have done. Defend it. It's not up to him to create the race, that's for the challengers.
