Unbelievable we need so many little cables and hubs and clamps and things that can easily get misplaced, and/or go bad. And a headache to setup and diagnose under rushed touring live conditions. The Anker USB C hub has only 2 USB port and 1 usb C so to connect all 3 (keyboard, interface and nanokontrol), i used a USB to USB C adapter to connect the nanokontrol to the the USB C port.

I almost pulled the trigger on the iPad Air, but got the Pro instead due to thunderbolt 3/usb4, Bluetooth 5.3 and wifi6e . Maybe won’t make a difference with live playing, not sure on studio work… maybe. I couldn’t be happier.

Using a irig key i/o 49 makes it easier. Midi keyboard and Audio interface all in one. Only bad thing about irig is the special USB cable it uses, and only one Channel input.

Our technician always says "in heaven we'll all be cable-free". 50% of this video is about USB and Midi cable setups. May the Lord bring on bluetooth or some other cable-free connectivity solutions soon 😊 Our musicians and singers all use iPads for in-ear monitor settings and setlist admin on stage. This iPad keyboard app sure looks interesting for life on the road as a keyboardist, a great alternative to the MacBook solution and possibly a safer way to ensure good sounds when the venue keyboard is not that great.

We recommend the Anker 7 in 1 hub, along with a separate power supply, we linked both in the description. The Power Port 6 looks like it only charges USB devices, so it wouln't work as a hub to connect your gear.

With the lightning option using the USB Camera adapter, we have the Anker Powerexpand with the PD port (100w) with a 100w charger. If we plug just the USB hub to the lightning port of the cam adapter, doesn't it power the iPad as well? We don't have the cam adapter yet but if you've tried this before, does the iPad get charged without plugging in another charger?

This is perfect, except the “just connect your instrument cables to your sound board.” Our sound board requires xlr, Should we use 2 DI boxes? One for left stereo and one for right stereo?

Yes it’s best with the 2 DI-boxes. Depending of the installation, a pair of Jack-XLR adapter cables could be enough. YMMV.

Hi, the App supports bluetooth, however we wouldn't really recommend using a bluetooth connection for you main keyboard as a cable will be much more stable and reliable.

You can use the headphone jack, you would just need to use a cable like this one: amzn.to/3aV1l9B (affiliate link). Usually you would then connect to a pair of direct boxes then to the sound board. You aren't able to use both the headphone jack and audio interface for an iPad rig setup though.

Try going to the setting of your iPad and turn off some apps that run in background, turn off gps/location, Bluetooth, wifi (if you're not using them) while using the app

Hello, I have an iPad model with lightning input. I did like in the video (HUB + lighting adapter). I then plugged my audio interface into the HUB and put jacks on the outputs to my speaker. The interface is well recognized in the Sundays software and when I play on my keyboard the software recognizes it but no sound in the speaker. I don't see where the problem comes from. My speaker works perfectly and when I unplug the interface the audio works fine directly on the iPad? Can you help me?

At 6:05, why not connect the Midi controller directly to the Apple Lightning to USB3 camera adapter and then use a standard audio jack ( 3.5mm to 6.5mm )cable to take the sound straight from the IPad to the mixer? This is me thinking of a simpler way to connect, in a use case where there is no audio interface or complex mixing system. Have you tried this?

If your iPad has a headphone jack, that could totally be a workable solution, but you'd need to test and ensure there's plenty of power being provided to your midi controller as well :) These days the only remaining new model with a headphone jack is the base iPad, so we chose to highlight the audio interface route in the video to apply to all iPad models and to ensure that the solution we recommend will 100% always provide enough power to the midi controller.
