This accent wall turned out amazing! I think offices and powder rooms are the perfect rooms to update like this...they're small, so they're easy and inexpensive, but they add so much impact. And then they're easy to change if you want something different.

Great Idea Starting from the top down. If you didn't frame the wall you never know if it is square. If you have lasers kicking around you can check that and also level your first row. The walls looks great guys, you two are too funny.

@@KristinaSmallhorn We actually did that on our headboard a few years ago. We bought new boards, banged them all up with hammers and torched them, stained and painted them to make them look distressed, and then made a headboard that looked like a barn door. It was really cool! All the boards were the same color though. I would totally do this on my wall!

It says 12 gauge nails in your description. Ryobi finish nailer's only come in 18 gauge and 16 gauge. Which model do you have and what was the length of the nails you used? 2 inch? 2 1/2 inch? Thanks

Nice video. I like your results. In terms of filling the holes from the pictures taken off the walls... I understand, it's seems counter intuitive (Since they will be covered anyway). But you know what they say: If there's a hole, something's going in it!

What you could do, before mounting the planks on the wall , even before painting them - is to level them evenly to each other. That would cause the finall effect to be eaven greater looking.

We hired a plumber recently to replace and relocate the old hot water tank (moved into the garage). Now we have a closet in the utility room we are going to rebuild into a pantry! Jonathan Fairchild we cut around the plug and pulled the plug mount forward and screwed it into the boards. (That was my idea, Eddie wanted to keep it mounted to the original wall 🤦🏻♀️)

Great job and love your team work, I have this question you said you guy's used wooden fence boards right? I like to know before I do this to a wall I want to cover did they expand or shrink after a while! Meaning the boards on the wall just need to know you didn't get gaps between the boards because or shrinkage or that they didn't expand!

just one other thing about nailguns... easy but a like taking skirtings out when you feel like a change... so once you get fed up with it, be prepared to replaster your walls

Looks great! How did you handle the outlet? Did you just unscrew the outlet from the box and screw it to the wood plank? Otherwise, I would assume it would have appeared to be sunk in the wall.

@@KristinaSmallhorn I recently re-did my living room. Tore off wallpaper to reveal paneling underneath. Filled in grooves in paneling with drywall mud and sanded over all the paneling and mud. Then sprayed mud on the paneling for a knock-down texture. Primed and painted and it looks like drywall! New outlets, covers, and baseboards....looks pretty good in my opinion!
