Quick summary: 1. Time is money, your friends are wasting it you can just use it in better way. 2. Give yourself less time to complete tasks, give yourself deadlines. 3. Identify tasks you can perform anywhere. Ex: Listen audiobook while traveling or exercise or use Anki flashcards while travelling. Be productive even in your downtime. 4. Switch tasks to be focused. Pomodoro is best. Optimise breaks - do quick walk or few jumping jacks. 5. Everyone have 24 hours - Use feynmen techinque, -> why, what, how.

In my opinion down time is important and should never be removed completely from your day. I even think people should spend more time doing 'nothing'. And I mean nothing, not scrolling down the newsfeed or chatting or even looking at your phone! Nothing at all. I gives you time to reflect and stay a balanced, emotional stable person, and these moments are more and more killed by smart phones because people don't HAVE TO be alone with themselves anymore because the phone is always there. I explicitly use the 15-20 minutes in the bus everyday to do nothing and let my thought run free. And I think it is the best thing you can do for your mental and emotional health.

To sum up: 1) Time is money, you may decide to spend a little more money to save some time. (e.g. ordering food instead of getting it yourself). 2) Parkinson's law: The more time you give yourself for a task, the more time you'll spend doing the said task. Give yourself not too much time to do something. 3) Get things done wherever you are: use Anki if you have a few minutes (Dr. J, we know you are paid to make ads for them, even if you denie it) or work while you travel by plane or train. While driving, listen to audiobooks or podcasts. 4) Use the pomodoro technique to avoid burnout and get other things (that don't involve too much brain activity, like ironing) done during a break. Also, if you are deconcentrating after a few hours, switch task to maintain the momentum. 5) Delegate some tasks to other people, for example take turns for going to the grocery store with your roommates. You are welcome!

I think the biggest thing that helped me is cutting out distractions. No notifications nothing. I just wake up early and do the most important stuff. Nobody writes me that early I don't need to check emails I can turn it all off. I am completely in the zone then. At other times I listen to audiobooks at 2x speed to get some extra knowledge in! Finished 4 books in the last months and I still have enough free time! That was a great video and you are really inspiring to a smaller KZbinr like me! Its great to see that you can handle all your business stuff and still upload!

Very informative video. Surprisingly I just found out about this channel not too long ago. I used to function with the idea "you can sleep when you're dead" and just tried to cram as much as possible in one session until I was exhausted completely. But Little did I know I only spent about 50% of those times doing what is truly necessary. Sleep, break, and naps have become higher on my priority list because they keep me more productive. They basically become non-mentioned tasks I set for myself to switch in whenever I hit a certain limit.

Also write down grocery/things to buy on a buying list. that way you can maximize the time you a lot for grocery and other errands. also stack on as some spares for toiletries and basic commodities (in moderation) This prevents you from having unplanned trips to the grocery because you ran out of tp!

I have to agree with Musti. setting extremely high expectations can make you discouraged if you're not following thru with them 100%. so just with small good habits. and then once they feel normal and like an everyday routine, you can then decide what you'd like to add on next. for me i realized writing things down and putting my thoughts on paper to refer back to, has helped enormously.

The last year i was soo lazy that in the med school i would stay on the phone bored about everything, came home just swiping on the phone the rest of the day, not washing dishes, not doing laundery, not cleaning the apartment. Then this summer my gf insisted on the fact that i should clean my apartment like it was a hospital. I started with this, it took me some days but in the end i was so happy with me that i achieved that. Since then (about a month) i cleaned every weekend the house, i do the dishes after i eat (it s not that hard) not after 4 days when i had no other dishes to eat, i do the laundry pretty often and so on. This kept me going to be more organised with everything, grocery, faculty, etc. I m not perfect but everything starts with the small things, you can t achieve something huge in a small amount of time just because you snap your fingers. I wish you good luck with everything you want to achieve!

I personally have had some experience tryna maximise time and productivity, eg, most of my KZbin is about learning, wether it's tips and tricks of daily life like this video, or a science video or a recipe video, and same thing with my tiktok, I stopped getting memes and was just getting learning material, and I would use my breaks in-between studying and heavy tasks to watch these videos and try to not waste time, or even go on an app and learn some languages for 15mins, however I realised soon that this made me very stressed and depressed, so you need to know your limit, although I was very effecient this way, my mood was always very low and in the long run my productivity declined because I lost passion and enthusiasm for learning material and tasks that's I really wanted to work on because I was always bored, I then started switching up my breaks for more fun activities, like he said at the beginning not to mix and match, keep them separate don't chill and work at the same time, but his later advise is kind of unspecified. Now what I do is I have certain times allocated to these short productivity tasks rather than using breaks for it and I just use breaks to play short games or watch something fun and interesting like a video about a new game or something. This way I'm always in a good mood and when I get back to work, I can work at a high pace and keep focus.

Pomodoro trick question, what if your tasks are all physical? What do you do for your break?
@samiraansari56866 жыл бұрын
Hanyue Li I‘m mainly studying right now, but when I was working (mostly physical work) last year, hydrating in breaks and eating small bits of food (An apple, a Cookie) helped me a lot to re-energize during short breaks. Also, if you feel like your muscles are cramping, definitely stretch, or shake out your limbs.
