Why couldn't Green Lantern's power ring create a battering ram to knock down the obstruction?

I'm not sure why the writers chose these convoluted ways for Green Lantern to use his power ring. He could have created a large underwater drill to clear the entrance or maybe drill an escape shaft to a level not filled with water and have the miners use a working elevator to evacuate to the surface. I suppose it's a more imaginative to go find a large whale and conjure up a large transport helicopter. Not to mention the time it would take to find a large enough whale in the southern Atlantic or Pacific Oceans

That's why. Aquaman would end the show to quick. It's rescue heroes ops. Each hero must test in situations they aren't good in to be better heroes.

@@Superlad9494 At the risk of innocent people's lives? You'd think that you would send the best suited hero for each specific job, especially if lives are in danger. If the Twins failed, maybe it would make them better heroes in the future, but that's no consolation for the families of the de@d.

If I'm not mistaken the next series after this one is the "Challenge of The Super Friends" I think in that series, we'll see Green Lantern used a little more creatively than in this episode. Depending on if you are planning to review that series. For some reason that series was my favorite next to the Super Friends Galactic Guardians series with Darksied and his Henchmen.

Time travel is complicated. However in universe knowing that it's an alternate Earth-1 Pre-Crisis continuity....let's just say that since Superman is a Legionairre he had Wonder Woman, Batman, Robin and Aquaman all protected in a time bubble offscreen. That said even if he hadn't done that off-screen. Wonder Woman and Aquaman would have still existed for these reasons. Paradise Island can shift it's time and location whenever existing outside the multiverse whenever Hippolyta feels like it and Atlantis has one of it's 7 kingdoms as an Amazon-auxillary so when it sank, an Amazon Woman fell in love with an Atlantean man (because Atlantis sunk and developed normally apart from the Neanderthals) and that resulted in Aquaman. Batman and Robin would be the only odd ones out, but you could argue that Batman and Robin being Animated versions of West and Ward (as you have equivalents of George Reeves, an older Luke Halpin and now at this point in season 2, Lynda Carter* during s1 she would have been Linda Harrison, the more attractive mirror person in the Walker Pilot who if they had actually done it properly would have been Diana and Walker would have been Donna doing early silver age shenanigans...and Harrison's other role when being Diana provides the ideal Amazon punchline...what do most Amazons think of most guys? See Harrison's movie titles.)

None of these stories were compelling. I remember watching it first run and wondering why Skylab wasn't affected. The first story seemed to have the Superfriends pick a side in a civil war without checking to see if the guy wasn't a tinpot dictator upset he got overthrown. The Wonder Twins was a bit better, though as I understand it, sharks attack people mistaking them for food (generally the black wetsuit makes them look like a tasty seal or something; one bite and they don't like it, but by that time the damage is done). I would have expected Green Lantern to make a drill or something (and for that matter, unless that drilling machine was on rails, why didn't the miners use it? Oh, and those diamonds would be missed. I mean, they had already been mined, cut, and polished.

Green Lantern as a guest feels odd since hes usually a main member of the Justice League. Atom & Hawkman/girl make more sense as guests

It's ABC S&P rules. Robin while actually a Teen Hero in his own right like Zan and Jayna at this point takes up slot 5 as a duo since the idea of Robin having his own adventures seperate from Batman was consistently unfathomable to those who had only ever seen the serials, West show and The 1968 and 1977 cartoons...and such a sentiment remained true up up through B:TAS where FOX Kids consistently mandated that unless Robin was around, there would be no show....even though Bruce Timm and Paul Dini were really wanting to make more of an accurate to Post-Crisis comics and as an Michael Keaton's Batman movie. That really shouldn't have been such a hard concept to grasp though. Robin had solo adventures dating all the way back to Star-Spangled Comics where he would be either feature 1 or 2 after Syl and Pat (since it is Skyman's book, but he went by Star-Spangled Kid and reversed the hero/sidekick dynamic so his book became DC's Kid Hero book for the Golden Age) and then Skyman's sister Mary aka Gimmick Girl/Merry, Girl of 1,000 Gimmicks would be a backup to either of them...and all three kids got cover shots. Mostly Syl and Grayson, but Mary had a few too. Interestingly, I think it would have made more sense here to instead of having just the Wonder Twins in the Teen Segments, have it be Robin, his Teen Titans Pals and the Twins. That way they could have had special segments to where the Teen Titans give hints to who might be showing up later in the show's guest segment...by having their "don't call us sidekicks!" be the one to save the day in the Teen Heroes Segment. For instance, if Barry or Hal is to show up later, just use Wally and have him mention what a retroactive story does. "My other uncle gives me a toy ring sometimes" seeing as Hal and Barry are bros and Wally also calls GL "Uncle Hal". If Mera's supposed to show up? Use Garth and Tula. If we're to see Green Arrow and Black Canary? Use Speedy and make a bold move by introducing Mal Duncan (his shoffer makes portals similar, yet different to the Canary Cry and as Vox as he's now known he can do the cry, but he would have been called either Herald or Guardian in 1978.) and if ABC objects the way CBS did at first with Valerie Brown on Josie....have the folks at HB say..."Valerie Brown and Dee Dee Skyes are intelligent black women, DC already tried to shoot down the idea of a black teen hero once, Mal's their first teen black hero and first black hero, now either he and eventually his lady Bumblebee are in or we stop making Superfriends." (Something relating to Scooby was probably said to CBS in a similar manner over the aforementioned Velma-types.) Atom- use Bumblebee. If we're to get something totally unexpected (like a surprise appearance of the college duo Supergirl and Batgirl, Rima or the show's OC's) then that's Donna's and the Twins' department.
