Luigi wasn't in green because at that point his official design wasn't completely figured out yet, and the reason there are multiple Bowsers that turn into different monsters when killed with with fireballs is because they are Bowser's minions in disguise, though it was originally just a glitch.

I honestly thought that bowser turning into random enemies was intended, since in each world he’s always a different enemy (though I think I do remember slaying him with fireballs on world 2 or 3 once and he just died normally instead of shape shifting into anothed enemy upon death. the old lady's reaction is most likely just an old vaudville thing japanese people used to do. Usually at the punchline of a stupid joke someone will react by striking an odd pose. The comic Osomatsu-Kun popularized the reaction pose with "SHEEH!" back in the 60s. That's the more famous reaction pose and it has been copied and imitated by other artists and even celebrities.

The technical senselessness is actually pretty faithful to the Mario series when it first came out, when you think about it. An Italian plumber running through a barren wasteland that somehow has floating bricks and boxes that drop either mushrooms that glide across the ground or flowers that make you shoot fire from your hands, all while fighting evil turtles and a giant turtle to save a princess. At the time, nothing could’ve gotten more ridiculous than that.

@@samueld8413 There is this channel that made a high quality rare 4K scan of the film which is near perfection. He mainly color corrects scenes to make them appear less washed out. Be he is well capable of doing the task of fixing continuity errors, changing specific colored areas and some other visuals. With the sound stuff like music and voice acting is not ready.
