I own a small trucking company. I’ve hauled several hundred loads of Super tech oil outta Warren distribution which makes Super tech. Ran into an Engineer who works there at the local Starbucks. I asked him about the oil and how it compares to mobile one and he laughed at me and said well if we had to advertise all over the place for Supertech we would probably be just as expensive. Also for anybody reading this who has babies and uses diapers I also haul hundreds of loads out of Kimberly Clark in North Ogden Utah and next to the Huggies line of diapers is the Kirkland brand (Costco) You can thank me later.

Spot on Mike spot on! There are differences between brands but it almost never makes any difference. I had a marketing exec for a big oil company tell me the reason all brands guard formulations and data so closely is because if people knew how little difference there is between oil brands as it pertains to actual motors everyone would just buy the cheapest certified oil they could find. Even black stone admitted for almost all normal oil use for most people they haven’t been able to find any difference in wear rates between brands and even between synthetic and conventional (if the motor was designed for conventional and it’s not in an extreme climate).

As for the smell, maybe it was in fact used oil. A couple of years ago I bought two five-quart containers of Super Tech, and while the plastic seal ring on the cap was intact, the foil seal underneath the cap over the container spout was broken. Humm. When I started pouring this oil into the engine during an oil change, I noticed right away the oil was black. Upon further inspection it was obvious this was used oil. Took it back to the store and the manager claimed to know it was purely an accident. How they could confuse new oil with used oil in their shop and put the used oil in the rack for sale to customers is extremely careless if not deliberate fraud. I still use Super Tech because of the price, but I am careful to inspect the container seals and oil before pouring it into my engine.

Minnesota kid you are right. Warren Distribution has been selling oil since 1922. There top oil name is mag1. The supertec oil is not as good as some name brands, but i have seen it was better than some. Like Motul oil and that is supposed to be one of the top of the line oil. I've seen it almost do as well as royal purple. As long as u change the conventional oil at 3000 to 4000 miles with a quality oil filter and 6000 miles with a synthetic oil filter, you should be good to go. I would rather have clean oil every 6000 miles and have oil life left than run oil till all the lubrication is at 0. What protection do u think is better cleaner oil at 6000 or oil at 10 to 15 thousand miles on it. Some people think just because something cost more, it has to be better. I've known hookers that cost less than a preppy girl and are better in the sack. So by logic the preppy girl cost more so, she should have been better right? But that's not the case.

i used super tec for the first time and noticed the idle dropped and the engine ran smooth. i used a quart of marvel mystery oil. i'll find out more but my truck ran smooth. why would they sell super tec if it wasn't good. it's fine for my car. i've never smelt oil that was burnt, so i wouldn't know. curious why did you smell the oils?

@@TenzaMotorsports well I kind of have to agree with you too. i'm using it out of curiosity. bought a second hand truck that I thought to use the oil. i'm going to smell the oil after. I usually use Pennsoil, Quaker State, or Valvoline 20-50 racing oil. I just don't know enough about oil. Thanks for the video. it makes people think.

Been using Super Tech Regular (Not Synthetic) oil for all of my vehicles since it was introduced and cost under $2.00. Now it's over $4.00 and I'm still using it. Never had an oil related failure to any of my vehicles. Most have over 200,000 miles. I do however change my oil every 3000 miles like I was taught 45 years ago. I also grease my vehicles if possible and use marine grade grease!

I wonder what it would look like with rislone engine treatment additive in the super tech oil.
@TenzaMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
I’ve looked into doing additives. After I get done testing the regular oils I might do additives

@@TenzaMotorsports I can't believe the cost of oil at Autozone. $38.99 for the Pennzoil. I was a bit upset and left the store. Went to Walmart got the Supertech oil for $14.88 and Rislone for $4.47. Totals out to $19.35 and still saved money but hopefully, it's at least the equivalent to Pennzoil by itself. I also got engine restore for my 4 cylinder car, will put that in with the engine oil and the Rislone.

thats an interesting idea. Buy the cheap stuff then use additives. Keep us updated, I'd like to know how it goes.

Supertech smells burnt? Hmmm, is it possible that it's made from recycled oil?

''Never going back to using Walmart Supertech Full Synthetic Oil Some of you may have already started snickering after reading the title. Anyways, my 08 Fit only has about 60k miles as of today and i've experimented with different brands and types of synthetic 5w20 oils since i've owned it. TWICE, I have used Walmart's Supertech Full Synthetic oil and after the first time, I noticed in my recordkeeping book that a lot of oil had burned as it was down to about 3 quarts when drained. Every other brand i've used never had that issue and it has always held up to around 3.6-3.8 quarts upon draining the oil. During my last oil change (September of 2013), I had exactly $17 cash (rare I had cash) and remembered I needed an oil change so I decided to give the Supertech Full Synth 5w20 stuff another shot. I noticed that the car didn't feel "the same" (for lack of a better term) but continued to just drive it as the Fit is basically my daily driver. In November when it was due for an oil change, I drained it out and noted that there was only 2.6-2.7 quarts in the drain pain. WOW, where did that oil go? I figured something might be wrong, however, I went back to using Valvoline Full Synthetic 5w20 and didn't look back as I didn't want to deal with any more expenses. Yesterday I changed my oil and voila, 3.8 quarts drained into the drain pan. My thoughts - that Walmart Supertech Fully Synthetic 5w20 oil sure burns. I've never had this issue with ANY other 5w20 Synthetic Oils. My 2 favorite Synthetic oils are Castrol Edge and Valvoline, mainly because the car feels great and it doesn't take a huge chunk out of my wallet. Anyone else have similar experiences with Supertech oils? '' Tom of St. Martin, MN. www.lakesnwoods.com/StMartin.htm
