To all the guys saying this test is stupid or irrelevant you are missing the point. Sure Tenza could do the tried and tested method of filling the engines correctly running them for a hundred hours then sending a sample in to have it analyzed. That's not what this test is about. This test tells us how well the residual oil can protect the wear surfaces and bearings in the engine. A real life example is a cold start of your car or truck. For a brief second or so the only protection you get is from the residual oil coating the engine parts. The oils used in the dry engines that last the longest will provide the best protection. The proof is also reflected in the test results where as the oil with the highest viscosity, Mobil-1, has lasted the longest before engine failure. Also thanks Tenza for the incredible amount of time and effort put into these videos!

Best oil is clean oil. I know guys with over 300,000 miles and used nothing but conventional. My neighbor has 750,000 on his 07 Ridgeline he has oil and filter changed when the OLM comes on. Honda dealer 29.95 with $10.00 off coupon For that price he most likely gets semi synthetic bulk oil.

the test isn't flawed. It's a torture test. It literally did exactly what it was meant to do. I'm sorry you don't understand the premise and the outcome, but I don't know how else to explain it. It's a test of heat resistance and film strength. Engines can be ruined or damaged in just a few slow cranks if your oil can't produce the protection it needs while there is no pressure.

I believe a Blackstone labs rep that says Supertech oil is very good. This is established by real world analysis of God knows how many oil samples. In fact, if they meet the US standards there’s no difference in wear amongst any oils.

Not sure this proved alot as far as oil is concerned because most of the time you keep the oil in the engine. There is one this this proved and that is man is the most destructive force on an engine whether your pulling a cord or behind the wheel.

You can tell you are trying to degrade the supertec. Oil. By pulling the pull cord more times on the supertec motor when it stopped and when you wiped the end caps you wiped the penzoil once top and bottom and wiped the supertec three to four times. Top and bottom. Watch your own video you will see. To be fair to both oils. Everything. And I mean everything needs to be done exactly the same. One for one.
@TenzaMotorsports
@TenzaMotorsports 2 жыл бұрын
On the contrary. The supertec oil failed so quickly. I thought there would be more life in it. I tried to get to start that many times because I wanted to make absolutely sure that it was completely done. I gave it every change I could to let it show just a little more run time. Every single oil and engine are going to fail in slightly different ways. The test parameters were the same the exact same nothing changed between the two motors. To show the difference in oils the end result is not going to be the same that’s the difference. You saw me showing the damaged engines and wiping things to make sure they were clean. Showing all the debris is not part of the test parameters. That’s part of the end results.

The fact that you kept pulling the cord on the supertech motor may have had something to do with the added metal shards in the bottom of the case.

Google “Walmart left my drain plug out when they changed my oil” There are times in the real world when the oil leaves the crank case. There are times in real life when oil pumps stop pumping and then Tenza Motorsports test could be the difference between a completely destroyed engine and a tow and really apologetic service manager. I think your perspective on “real life” needs to be broadened.

Both motors failed what's the point. If you run any motor out of oil with any oil it will fail...Buy name brand oil at twice the price for what purpose??? Warren company (Super Tech and other brands) have been making oil since the 1920s... I've had absolutely no issues with Super Tech oils in my SUV and small engines...All oil brands use different additives in their oil at different rates...I'm not paying 2 to 3 times the price for an oil in the absolute none rational fact that you ever will drive a car or machinery without oil in it. By the way you all should check out project farm and see how well Super Tech did against the so called superior name brands...Super Tech was neck to neck with Redline in all its testing at 1/3 the price...Super Tech compared excellent in the frozen oil test of new oil and used oil that was cooked off prior to freezing...If you want to pay premium price for oils make sure it has high levels of Zinc and Phosphorus (Driven named brand oil and others) in it as it will bond better to metal at higher temperatures....Unless your driving a sports car or exotic high priced race car Super Tech is the way to go.....

The oil must be so diluted with gasoline or diesel it's like water, if it can't take a few rotations before utter failure. What legitimate API SN oil of today can't handle this test. But if you expect it to continually protect after that, it's as absurd as a Slick 50 or Prolong add that says run em without any oil at all after thier treatment. PIE IN THE SKY STUFF....I know that my engine needs a good working oil pump, and if it's not, it's on me, not on any brand of oil I use!

This test is different, it shows actual differences after very short term and extreme conditions. Supertech would only be mid affordable tier comparing to amazon and kirkland as they are all manufactured by Warren distrubitions. so for all the family vehicles, daily drivers. we can run supertech, amazon, kirkland just fine. all other brands can cater to race car needs, as they have more ppm and anti wear additives with more zinc, mag, moly content. so best oil would be #1 amsoil for the race car, #2 pennzoil full synthetic in 2nd place, thats affordable still to the regular 9-5 dude. and even better when on sale or with rebate specials. can stock up on them for twice amount vs amsoil grade for similiar quality. then for the eco friendly budget, best deals. just get ur personal preference of Mobil1/castrol/ or any big 3 warren distribution oils (kirkland, supertech, amazon) im in canada, so i will try out Kirkland brand. i watched buncha of this guys vids and Project farm oil comparisions, bout 2 hrs worth. and this sums up my learnings lol. speaking on Canada/US ppl, i know aussies have Pennrite which is up there too with pennzoil that we have over here. but yeah

The test I would like to see is one in which these motors were run with full oil for a month straight, then torn down for an inspection. These motors are not designed to run empty, and the oils are designed to protect the motor while being pumped through the motor, or flung by the crankshaft, in a way that keeps the engine constantly lubricated. However, for some I suppose seeing a motor implode and go to bits internally can be entertaining. Of the small engines I've had, regular oil changes regardless of oil used, have enabled the motors to outlive the devices they powered.

How about doing Castrol Extended (Gold bottle) or the Castrol Edge (black bottle) against another synthetic oil?

Very useless video man, read the manual of the engine and take clearances with a micrometer a dial indicator and feeler gauge. That's how you gonna get into the point.
@TenzaMotorsports

It’s only useless if you don’t understand what’s going on. I don’t need to read the manual. I don’t need a feeler gauge. I got great results from the testing. Super tech is not a good oil.

I took your advice to never use Super Tech. I used to be a huge believer of Super Tech. I now am a Pennzoil Ultra user and swear my vehicles are running better. I get Pennzoil Ultra real cheap on Walmart's website. I never see it in the Walmart store.

Both are rated SN and both have the GF-5 rating, too. Castrol EDGE is GF-6 and SP rated, a bit higher. Pretty much any oil on the market today will be SN and GF-5 rated, which is good enough for almost any engine.

Sorry for the late reply! I probably won't be testing many high milage oils but I will be doing the HPS Royal purple.
