the reason im interested is because ive been comparing.. the micro 33 to the gold micro 33 as far as purchasing.. it does not surprise me in misleading customers of actual bearing counts in fishing reels.. seems to be widespread within the industry.. saltwater spin reels is super bad in misleading... again sir... an awesome and HONEST video..

One of the primary differences I have actually seen is the Zebco Platinums, Pros and Bullet all have stainless bearings. The others have a Chrome Molly bearing, which can still rust if not properly lubed.

Very nice. I just bought a Zebco 33 Gold Micro as a replacement for my old Daiwa Minicast Gold rod setup that I've had since I was a little kid in Alaska since the original reel was shot. I'm going to do this to mine. Have you ever used Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish on any of the friction surfaces? That stuff is magic, you might be very pleased at the results.

You are welcome! The bite alert is part of the anti-reverse on a regular 33. The 33 Gold has a continuous AR, so the bite alert isn't part of the reel. If you want a 4 ball bearing reel with bite alert then get the regular authentic and super tune it by adding 3 more ball bearings.

Excellent tutorial, thank you! I recently purchased 4 of these reels. Question: would you not recommend loading line thicker than the 4 lb test it comes with? Looking at loading 6-8 of fluorocarbon if possible.

I put 6 lb on my micros. I tries 6 lb fluorocarbon one year, but removed it since it it seemed to get imbedded in the spool. To fine? You could use up to 8 or even 10, but it won't cast as far.

I dont own a 2020 model yet. But I have done a service video for two 2020 models. A 2020 Zebco 33 Rhino. And a 33 Max Rhino. One for a viewer and the 33 Rhino for my son. Check them out. I super tuned both of them.

Yes, I am pretty sure it is the same procedure. The micro 33 and 11s all used a BY097-01 Bearing 11MA (6x10x3 mm) on the main crank shaft. Do it!

Hey. I have a question for the "Zebco 33 Expert"... I have a BRAND NEW 'Zebco 33 Micro' (not gold). I took it out for the very first time. After about 15-20 minutes of fishing, I heard a "clunk" or a "pop" while casting. Ever since that 'pop' there is a ton of resistance and vibration when winding in the line. Technically, the reel still functions but it's so "rough" it's just not pleasant to use. It seems to cast normally. It's the winding of the crank that clearly has something wrong with it. I took the rear cover off for a visual inspection but nothing jumped out at me. I haven't taken it completely down to bits.... Have you ever experienced anything like this? Did I just get a bad one?

No I haven't. I am trying to think what could be going on with it. If you have too, contact Zebco and send the reel in. They have a great replacement warranty

is that gold reel about the same as far as service go's ? like my fin commander has two bearings already then i'm adding the two bearings to the reel handle shaft or super tune that'll make it a much smoother four bearing system won't it ? and my regular 33 micro just has one bearing but i'm going to super tune it at the same time but i'm not sure of myself taking it all the way apart like the drag washers and taking the gears out but i'm sure i can add the two bearing super tune it looks simple enough , i'm just scared i'll mess it up if i take it completely apart

Which micro do you think is a better reel of the three zebco micros? The gold, black or 11? After bearing upgrades of course. Does one have better gears or anything that would put it over the top performance wise.

The 33 gold micro has a brass pinion gear, so it is more durable than the 33 micro black or 11. Plus it has a continuous anti-reverse.

I prefer the new ones. I like the old USA made ones too. When you say "Trigger" reel are you wanting a push button reel (classic Zebco) or the trigger spin reel, which is also called a closed faced spinning reel? Zebco makes a 33 Micro Trigger spin. Great little reels. If you are looking for a larger 33 size, search Ebay for Zebco Trigger Spin. Look for a 33 Triggerspin, 444 Classic, 154 Omega. There are a number of triggerspins out there that are nice. The older one can have problems with the spinner cone and line brake though.

WD-40 is not a lubricant. It’s a water displacer and solvent hence the “WD” in the name. It will actually remove any oil and grease because it’s also a great degreaser.

Thanks for the comment. I primarily use WD-40 as a de-greaser. It does a great job of removing old sticky grease an oil from the reel and cleans it up nicely. I never use it as a lubricant.

Enjoyed the video but I don't understand why you put oil on those bearings they are sealed bearings. Sealed bearings can't be oiled or greased hence the name sealed!!!! I worked as a millwright for over 20 years and I promise you that if they are sealed the only way to oil or grease them is to remove the seal therefore ruining the bearings!!!! Great video other than that!!!!!

They are not actually sealed. Shielded would be more accurate.
