I have to say it. I've gone silent for too long. That intro- the intro to Friday night fisticuffs- has got to be one of the best intros to any KZbin show I've seen. No sarcasm. I don't know what it is. I think just that the whole thing is so relatable and so accurate to reality, because that's exactly what it looks like when I get together with my friends. I don't know, I like it a lot.

You know what the animations and art style honestly remind me of? Chinese knockoff games. Seriously. Seriously, all the characters feel like weird, less stylish mashups of other characters, and there's a ton of just straight up copied animations. It looks like a janky knockoff, except it's actually trying to do its own thing and has new ideas about fighting games. I can respect that. I also hope they'll improve their animations and all. This being alpha, it's certainly still possible.

Source Film Maker, an animation program released for free by Valve. It's relatively easy to use for a 3d animation program and it seems relatively simple to import models into it, so a lot of amateur animators use it to quickly make things... and when you attract small time artists, you attract a lot of porn.

Man, I know this game's not finished and some things might change, and other games (like Skullgirls) have referenced moves from other fighting games before, but DeGrey's dash-punch is just Slayer's dandy step and pile bunker _exactly_. I don't know if that's an inherently negative thing, it's just so blatantly the same move.

Given how many animations were inspired by standard fighting game moves in what I assume is an attempt to make it easier to get familiar with how the characters play (or on some cases pretty clearly cloned... I saw a Shin Shoryuken, Shinryuken, Anakaris' weird ranged grabs, a Gief lariat complete with projectile invincibility, Honda's hundred hand slap, headbutt, and butt stomp, Slayer's jumping 234K that I always forget the name of and Dandy Step, complete with Crosswise Heel and Pile Bunker followups, Bison's back throw, Rugal's Genocide Cutter, and Ibuki with a nameswap...) I wouldn't be surprised if that's meant to be a way to get Sol's Dragon Install in there in a literal sense. Definitely has some promise though. I like nonstandard fighters like this and Bushido Blade that are more about timing, spacing, and mindgames.

+TheSw1tcher Matt the board game you were thinking of during the beginning of this video is called "Dragon Strike". It was a game similar to "Hero Quest" and was a much more basic version of a D&D style game. And yea, it had a FANTASTIC VHS tape that accompanied the board game. I still have that VHS tape to this day and it is still absolutely hysterical to watch.

That's not Adon's throw, it's Bison's back throw from SF4. Adon's back throw is one hit, he hooks you on one leg and just pivots, smashing you into the ground. Bison does the two kicks and lets the last one hurl you.

I think a cool character idea would be one that does all chip damage and has a limited health bar, but they move so fast and dish out so many attacks at once that other players have to rely on baiting them into an opening or making them run into an oncoming attack.

Well, Sirlin created Fantasy Strike back in the day because he designed Yomi intending to use the Street Fighter license and Capcom refused. So yeah, Fantasy Strike has plenty of parallels, but a lot of inspiration was drawn from other games as well, especially in the shadow expansion characters.

Random thing i learned- Darth Vader can still be super strong despite being a clunky cyborg because he plays the same way shitty CPU fighting games make things hard- he reads your inputs. He is strong enough that he can mind read your surface thoughts, so he just does a perfect counter with minimal effort. In otherwords- YOMI (*the japanese word for reading into the mind of the opponent)

The first match looked really floaty but every match afterwards looked fine, perhaps i just had to get used to the pacing or maybe it was the geiger vs setsuki matchup that made it look weird due to their flashing/blinking attacks. Once i got over that hurdle though the game looked interesting, not sure if i like it or dislike it, but it's interesting.
