Update from the future: Russia launched a new investigation into the Dyatlov Pass incident and found that the hikers almost certainly had to flee their tents due to an avalanche and then were not properly equipped for the weather as the temperatures would have been below 0° F. Three of the hikers died from injuries caused by the avalanche and the rest from hypothermia which itself does cause extreme mental impairment such as thinking you are actually very hot and general confusion.

That's actually normal for people to be found without tongues or eyes in snow mountains. It's soft tissue. Birds take that first. Same for people being found naked or 'surgically cut open'. Hypothermia can make you think your burning up, so you strip naked, and bloating (in not snowy areas, of course) can cause a body to burst right down the middle. Most stories of alien abduction or monsters in regional areas can be explained by this.
