I made these cookies yesterday and used the instructions that somebody had written down in the comments. It's important to remember that if you only do the cookies (not the first, frozen part), you need to double the dry ingredients (oats, cacao powder, nuts etc). I did half the dough with some dark chocolate mini chips (for my husband and kids) and left the other half for myself as is. Yesterday, when they were fresh, I honestly wasn't too impressed when I tasted them. However, I put them in the fridge overnight, and today, they taste a lot better. I think it's a great healthy alternative, and I'm planning to make these regularly. I will make some adjustments (add a few more dates and no raisins/currants), other than that, I really like them. Thank you Dr. Liu!

The key message in all of the videos I watch and all of the articles I read about health and nutrition is: "Eat real food". Whole foods, mostly plants, cooked from scratch. Yes, it takes more time than heating up a "ready meal" or ordering a takeaway - I spent four hours in the kitchen a couple of days ago batch cooking meals for the fridge and freezer from a mixture of fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds, and dried pulses and grains - but what better use could I put my time to than protecting and promoting my health? Without good health, life isn't good.

For those of you asking for the recipe here it is: Ingredients: 1 cup cannellini beans 1 cup chickpeas (garbanzo beans) 1 cup red kidney beans 1 cup Almond Milk 2tbsp Wheat germ (you can use oat bran) 3tbsp Flax seeds 6 Medjool Dates 1 cup rolled oats 0.25 cup cocoa powder 0.5 cup pumpkin seeds 0.5 cup walnuts 0.5 cup dried unsweetened cherries 0.5 cup raisins Method: Cold Dessert 1. Rinse canned beans under running water. 2. Pour 1 cup of Soy Milk in tall container 3. Add 2 giant serving spoons of wheat germ and ground flax seeds. 4. Add 1 cup cannellini beans, 1 cup garbanzo beans and 1 cup of red kidney beans and 6 pitted dates 5. Blend all of it together 6. Put the mix in ice-cube trays and freeze. Cooked Dessert (Cookies) 7. Use the Cold dessert mixture (without the freezing part) and add the Oats 8. Add the cocoa powder 8. Add seeds and nuts and dried fruits. 9. Scoop in small cookies and bake at 325 Farheneit for 15 minutes on parchment paper I made the cookies, I substituted the wheat germ with oat bran as I cannot find wheat germ where I live and I used goji berries instead of the raisins, they turned out fine, not too sweet as I did not add the unsweetened cherries as the only ones I found were sweetened (with added sugars) next time I will try to add frozen cherries.

This recipe will work better if you are used to eating these ingredients and have them in the house, and can eyeball the measurements to create the texture you are craving.: Here's my notes: Soy milk for liquid to blend dry ingredients, may need to add more. (start with 1/4 cup) 2 giant TBSP wheat germ and ground flaxseed 3 cups rinsed beans (shows chickpeas, kidney, and white beans, used no salt canned beans because they are soft) 6 pitted medjool dates Blend all together If too dry add more liquid. (If too much liquid you can add more beans) Half of mixture in ice cube trays for frozen treats. Half of Beans and Dates mixture (about 1 1/2 cups beans, 3 dates, 1 tbsp flaxseed, 1/8 soy milk and blended well.) add Oats add Cocoa powder add chunky stuff like dried fruits, nuts, seeds. mix by hand. Drop by spoon on baking sheet (parchment paper) Bake 350F for 15 minutes.

Definitely need written instructions. I screenshot the ingredients but dumped everything but the oats in the food processor. Then I realized I had to come back to the video for clarity, the bake time, and temperature. I cook all the time, but still think a full recipe would be helpful. That said, the batter is very tasty. Also, a can of beans has more than a cup in it so I now have to think about what to do with the extra beans.
@joelmclean60467 ай бұрын
@@me-lg1ywI did that but it wasn’t all that clear - half the batter goes to the frozen dessert. There are a lot of beans - prob too many for the cookie dessert. I reduced those and increased the oats and ended up with something edible but it didn’t look like the video lol:)

Well, before I found you, I would have made pemmican. It's a survivalfood. Made from a 50/50 mixture of grass fed tallow and grass fed beef. The American Indian used this to help make it through hard winters when food was scarce and hard to get. But because my triglycerides are high, I'm not eating meat or fat. I'm following your suggestions. So my question is, can you supply a recipe for a high calorie, healthy bread or something that I can take when on adventures in the forest. Let's say I'm hiking the Appalachian trail. I'd like something high calorie, healthy, compact to put in my pack. If you have this video already, please point me to it. I know, I'm needy. Lol. What's for dessert? Mom would say; 'dessert the table!' (she actually was an amazing cook who fed her 7 children the best diet she could.) When we change our perspective about what is actually food, we will begin to lose that baked in concept of bargain hunting and realize that food is medicine that works and not compare real food prices to processed food prices. The cost of processed food is only the first installment to accruing metabolic debt.
