Gotta sting extra for Jonathan being "accused" of being super. He earned his spot in the football team by his own merits, getting that undercut by people thinking you just had powers must be gutting.

Nevermind that, before the events of the show, they lived in Metropolis, Jonathan was the “Special” One (Star football player, popular, had a steady GF), and he had to give that up so they could move to Smallville, where JORDAN would then become the “Special” one (for his powers)- and Johnathan went neglected.

When superhero media has me so enthralled without any action scenes, you know it's incredible. I think it's such a great choice to have the limits of having the dual identity be the reason he never fostered a friendship with Jimmy in this version. If you know the comics you get that it's a big loss for Clark and is a great demonstration of what this life has cost him and why it's okay to give up the secret..

I love how this whole season has been about Clark hiding his secret and the consequences of it. And they keep showing the slow motion shots of Clark taking his glasses off before revealing himself as Superman because not only is that his disguise, but but as foreshadowing for the ending of this episode. The glasses represent him being Superman is a secret, and him taking them off again and again show he's going to take them off permanently at some point - that he's going to let the world know that Clark Kent is Superman. Beautifully written and foreshadowee throughout the season.

I find cynicism funny on occasion but it is so refreshing to have a Superman show that is unashamedly hopeful. Hope is not naiveté. For all the hope, people like Lex will still exist in this world who have all the money in the world and the opportunity to form a relationship with family and still refuse because of their unresolved issues. If the new DCU’s Superman is closer to this than Snyder’s, that alone would make it halfway great already.

I don't believe it was done earlier or in the comics, or at least there isn't a reference that I could find.

If it helps at all Eric, in the comics, when Crisis is resolved and a new earth is created, sort of merging elements of the other universes, while also making new things, the Jimmy situation could be explained as an outcome of Jimmy himself changing, like Clark having twin boys. I guess he was grieving his life before his troubles. Hopefully he has a moment of growth from this now that he was proven right and can be forced to confirm what was the reality of the situation. It'll be up to him however. But this episode was everything. And I'm so insanely hyped to see how this season finishes. This maybe the first time we see in the franchise a post Reveal that doesn't get retconned or undone. curious what the thought was on not bringing back Supergirls Jimmy olsen considering they brought diggle back. Is there two jimmy olsens? Or is this an alternate earth. Does that mean supergirl doesn't exist in his world that would be sad, especially as we assumed he has memory of precrisis earth and the arrowverse.

I’ve always been a fan of Superman and that will never change, but I’m divided by the move on S4/E7 because I’ve also been a fan at “Keeping The Secret!” Not missing this series finale though I’ve been watching it since the beginning! If this is truly the end… perhaps the studio would keep an open mind at another introduction…a spinoff called: The Justice League! Trouble goes down in Smallville and Superman springs into action, and is met face to face with Darkseid! But before all this goes down 5 strangers meet Clark at the diner in full fledged uniforms, Batman, Wonderwoman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Jon Jonzz! When Clark realizes how quite it got and sees all the stares are focused behind him he turns to see Batman and company just outside the diner! A quick burst of super speed and a quick costume change that lasts all but 1 millisecond he stands right in front of Batman…Clark asks who they are and Batman’s only response.. “WE NEED TO TALK, THE ROOF NOW”! (miss Kevin Conroy) Needless to say we all know how this turns out, and 20 minutes later…DARKSEID!😮
