This version of Vandal Savage was actually a pretty chill dude. It’s too bad he couldn’t talk some sense into his younger self to get him to see that his lust for power and conquest was ultimately meaningless in the long run because ultimately even if the did succeed in conquering the world eventually the human race would die off as is the way of things and he’ll literally be the last one of his kind and end up all alone with no one to talk to or anything. This version of Vandal Savage learned this the hard way when he destroyed the world basically just speeding up what was inevitable for him. I almost wonder if he didn’t send some message back with Superman to give to his younger self to change his course in life and hopefully get him to be better than a “power mad despot”.

Vandal knew for a fact it wouldn't have worked. It's a lesson he needed to learn first hand. The fact he didn't bother with a message shows he really did learn his lesson.

Guys...Vandal Savage is OP right? This isn't a critique, I'm having a thought. So being basically immortal is enough to make someone OP, especially if they somehow don't go completely insane from it. So Vandal Savage IS going to win. Someday. He simply needs to keep rolling the dice. Buuuut...what if he NEVER wins, because HE keeps sabotaging himself from other timelines? Like, EVERY timeline where Vandal Savage wins, he ends up regretting it, and eventually finds a way to influence the "main" timeline to keep him from winning. Like, the only reason Vandal Savage never wins the day is because HE keeps coming in from timelines where he did win to STOP himself, like he does in this episode. XD Vandal Savage is the ultimate villain...and the ultimate hero. XD
@misterb3577

That's a fascinating thought. Especially considering the fact that one way that Savage has been shown to truly die is when his entire timeline is erased, essentially wiping that version of him from ever existing. So I can imagine an endless number of Vandal Savages who ultimately win, live for unfathomable amounts of time in misery and loneliness, and then finally finding peace by preventing their future from happening in the first place.

Part of what made the DCAU so good, is that for the most part, the writers didn't talk down to their audience, and that because of censorship, the writers were forced to get creative on how certain things happen, and play out. These writers also made B:TAS memorable by exactly these reasons. This isn't to say showing conflict has no place. Sometimes, conflict needs to be shown to get across the point. It's just that, because the DCAU shows were intended for children, the writers couldn't rely on sexual themes, or in-depth violence beyond what was considered acceptable for children's television, to carry the program. Like I said, they had to be creative for some things, and they did it without talking down to the audience. Those 2 elements combined for a stellar show, and overall connected animated universe.

@@georgieiskewl3785 I don't know if it's 300 years, but the perception of time speeds up. After several millions of years, a day would seem like a second to you, with not much happening within those seconds (even if the city you're in gets nuked in that second, it'll just be another meaningless second, just like all the seconds before that).

Yep. Everyone thinks immortality is a blessing but it’s really a curse. Especially when only one gets it. They stay young while all their loved ones grow old and die off, eventually everyone they know will be gone. As the years continue they watch as civilizations rise and fall all the petty squabbles are meaningless to them as they continue to exist. Eventually they might be the last survivor of their entire species and eventually the only thing living on the planet, and even further beyond that they might the only living thing left in the universe and finally another Big Bang restarts everything, and if they’re still around by that point then they have to watch the cycle of creation, life, death and destruction all over again. Honestly I can’t imagine a worse hell than that.
@michaelsong5555
@michaelsong5555 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelrobertson4896 Yes. Watching loved ones die isn't that big of a deal, because 1. You'll make new acquaintances far faster than the ones you lose, and 2. You'll eventually be forced (due to time perception) to detach yourself from emotionally investing in people.
