What I understood is that Sam and Dean saved Bobby. Because the nest exists outside of space and time, Bobby was trapped in the nest, but when the boys expelled everyone inside, Bobby was freed as well, because it lives outside of space-time. From Bobby's perspective he returned back to his own time instead of the present. In some sense, Sam and Dean saved everyone that has ever been trapped inside. So yes, that was really Bobby that Dean saw and vice-versa.

This is such a GOOD and well-written episode. I love how it cuts so seamlessly between Sam and Dean and then Bobby and Rufus. And the overall themes are interesting (the whole "You can't save everyone." which I totally understand why would you NEED to adopt that rule if you make a life out of hunting. Otherwise you're going be an emotional wreck within a year. But Rufus at the end telling Bobby to screw the rule and do what he can for his boys. Gets me every time.) I also love that they answered the mystery of the Johnny Walker bottle introduced in Season 7! Such a small detail but it honestly adds a lot for me. Because it's the show remembering its own history. Also, I get very soft feels over watching Sam just pull Dean into a hug right there on the floor. And patting his hair. Like, he's so relieved he's okay and that it worked. Also, I have to say, I'm SO excited to see your reaction to the next episode! It and "Baby" from earlier this season are tied for my two favorite episodes in the entire run of the show. I won't say anything to spoil it but... yeah. Looking forward to it. 😊

I'm fine they didn't, I dislike things that hold your hand and Supernatural let's you discover little hints like that you may not the first time, like Rowena being in Sam's head in that one episode or like Chuck being "special" for those fans catching up. 😅

1:45 my dad was visiting at my place when my housemate was watching this episode...he took a passing interest...this scene had us all laughing...cos in the short gap between the game being played and deans line he asked “it cut? Who won?” Priceless

@@pepe-gfv2 This is halfway through s11, and bobby died halfway through s7. If each season is a year long: 7-8 8-9 9-10 10-11 So yeah, 4 years. But if people wanna get technical, I guess it's been 5 years because there was an extra year between the s7 finale and the s8 premiere when Dean and Cas were trapped in Purgatory.

Pay attention to the detail when Dean says that he has a possible lead on Lilith on Maine. That's from season 4 I believe, that they were after Lilith. That adds at least three or four more years.

Dean won at rock paper scisor in episode 13, "Love hurts". Remember, he was so happy about it. I love Bobby and Rufus a lot. I don't like the way the writers ended things between them: with Rufus saying he won't ever forgive Bobby then dying, but this helps my headcanon that Rufus still loved Bobby like a best friend and that Bobby, deep down, knew that. Great episode and great reaction as per usual.

Love the callbacks in this one. When Rufus died in 6, Bobby said he always used to pull the "cant work on the sabbath" whenever they had to dig a grave, and we get to see it. And in season 7, Sam & Jody found a bottle of John Walker Blue in Bobby's stuff with the note "You win for once, you ass. ~R" in it. This case had to be what they were betting on.
