I guessed about Michael / Dean coming back when the blurred vision started but when Michael initially left Dean I was furious and thought that was it, that they had pulled the Demon Dean scenario - gone after three episodes. Cannot wait for the next one.

I didn't see the switch back coming either, I agree that Jenson is killing it with his amazing acting.. you are right if you compare earlier seasons to later they have all grown and after doing the shoe so long that's pretty remarkable instead of phoning it in..

Oh no I remember this was a long and painful hiatus lol, back then a lot of us saw Michael being back in Dean coming because of the visions and everything and it was just in time to leave it as a cliffhanger for the hellatus but you were geniunely surprised so that was a fun reaction :D

I think the entire fandom questioned why when Michael left Dean. It didn't make sense.

Wait!!! Supernatural didn't finish the Michael Dean plot within the first 2 episodes like they do everytime??? What a twist!!!

I didn't quite predict that this exact thing would happen with Michael, but I had guessed that Michael was spying on them through Dean. (I was hoping for a while that this was a callback to Season 5 when it was established via Raphael that angels (especially arch angels I think?) still have a link to their vessel even after vacating it. So I thought that's what was going on there with Dean and Michael. Him taking back over again took me a bit by surprise because that hadn't really happened before. (But I'm guessing it was a case of "I never completely left so you couldn't quite close the door." so to speak.) Overall, I did find how the show and writing dealt with Dean's possession by Michael a bit odd since it differed so much from angelic possession we'd seen in the past. Like, Dean wasn't able to pull back the welcome-mat so to speak. But Sam was with both Lucifer (who clearly needed permission to possess him again in S11 which Sam turned down) and with Gadreel, who needed a second "yes" from his previous vessel after Sam kicked him to the curb. I get that Michael was playing fast and loose with the rules, but it still struck me as odd. I did love Sam in this episode! Also, he's SUCH a dad I just love it! Like, clearly he's trying to make sure Jack eats well and takes care of himself, especially since he's human now. And when his kid was in trouble he just COULDN'T wait around to go save him. Also, as I commented in Part 1 of your reaction, I loved the little moment when Jack picked the lock. And I think Sam was probably proud of him not only for being able to do it, but also that Jack had decided he wanted to learn how to do something, so he went and figured out on his own how to learn it. He's like "Yes! My son can research!" Also Jack's red coat with the fleece lining was just SO adorable! I did take issue with one thing this episode though. Ever since the end of S13, one of the things I really wanted to see happen this season was for Sam and Dean to have a real, honest conversation about possession. And the fact that they've BOTH experienced it. (And that maybe now Dean understands why the Gadreel situation had bothered Sam so much back then. Because NOW he understands what it's like to have your free will taken away like that.) And I didn't think I was asking for too much in wanting that. It seemed like a natural conversation that would have happened with them. And like, it almost did a few times. Dean has talked a bit about his possession. But the way it was framed, it was almost as if he was explaining it to someone who'd never experienced it before. And Sam wasn't about to butt in right then with "Yeah, duh, I know what that's like." because he's not an asshole. But it felt like willfully ignoring that whole aspect on the part of the writers. And then THIS episode happens and Dean finally says something about it. About how now he understands what it's like when he didn't really before. But who did he say it to? Cas. I mean... I guess maybe Cas was the safer person because although Cas has experienced possession before, Dean really didn't have anything to do with that so there's no fault on his part. But it just really felt to me like a conversation that needed to happen with Sam. And at least up to this episode it hadn't, and I found that very frustrating. Aaaanyway, that aside I did overall enjoy this episode. And BOY what a cliffhanger that was! And yes, hiatus that year was particularly grueling as people wondered what the outcome of that *Snap* would be. I look forward to watching your next reactions! (I've fallen a bit behind. Life happens.)

I was so happy to see Michael/Dean's story wasn't finished in Ep.2 like many other fantastic storylines that were finished so soon in the show (Demon/Dean for example) and they got to use this arc longer and in a more complicated way. Smart SPN! this is one of my reasons to love Season 14. and I'm still not over the way the show treats Cas! I mean he's an angel for god sake! and he gets knocked out in the first 5 seconds to give the scene to SAM and DEAN! they made him useless. even less than an ordinary man. and whenever I compare this Cas with what he was in Season 4 and 5 I feel I'm betrayed! Cas deserved way better.

Another episode I absolutely adore, except for those hprrible werewolf fangs. But everything else was SO GOOD. Cas catching Jack munching on sugary cereal in the dark? The hilarious Ketch cameo? Jack being the most polite burglar ever? Seeing Kaia and Garth again and Garth comparing Michael to his Ma? Michael waiting impatiently for them to arrive and fidgeting around in his chair? Loved it, all of it. I have never once seen Die Hard but apparently this episode was based on it. I loved seeing Dean fooling around with the spear like Dark Kaia and then the slowmo walking cracked me up so hard, when I watched the episode for the first time I laughed so hard that I started crying. Also, as a non-american it was most confusing to learn that there's a Kansas City in Missouri :D AND THEN THE THANOS SNAP CLIFFHANGER. OH GOOOD. I believe back then my Avengers Infinity War wounds were still fresh, but in my little bubble the hiatus was most entertaining because of it and because of all the people imagining what Michael might have done and sharing gifs of buglar!Jack or Cas as dadstiel in the background in the car park. Loved this episode and I am looking foeward to the next one, which is equally great.
