They can solve it whenever they want. The carriers don't want to solve it, because the companies that the scammers use are big customers. It's going to take some Senator's mom getting scammed to get this fixed.
@lasskinn4743 ай бұрын
they just don't want to solve it. it's pretty simple. they know who they're billing for the call, where it's routed from etc. they just want to sell the service. USA is special in this too because hahaha they'll make accounting money even if they're unable to get the caller billed because the way they set up their systems is that you 'pay'(usually as minutes*) on your contract for _receiving_ calls/sms's. like in finland, thailand etc most of the world it doesn't cost _you_ to receive a spam call anything - or a regular call for that matter, the caller pays. this is how the free sms services for sending sms's to randos in usa worked so well for so long too.. the companies over there didn't care, the unfortunate receiver paid to be inconvienced. edit: this is also why twitter had that character limit so it would fit in a sms that twitter got to sent for free to the american users back in the days(free for twitter, the receiver could use up all their monthly sms's quite fast with it tho)

I had my mr2 shipped to a buyer from nj to Chicago. I inadvertently left my license plants on the car. They were antique plates. In New Jersey you never have to pay a yearly registration fees if you have those plates. I called the buyer to send the plates back to me because I had to turn them in to DMV. Theoretically, if your plates wind up on a stolen car you can get in trouble. Al long shot but I play by the rules. Anyway, the car arrives without the plates.The driver claims that the car didn’t have them when he picked the car up. The buyer kept hammering him until the driver said he collected them and my plates were unusual so…..I got my plates back. The moral of the story take your plates off before shipping,even if you never turn them in, because if these guys are willing to steal them in the first place then I wouldn’t put it past them to give them to their criminal buddies.

The issue is that central dispatch has no incentive to get rid of scammers. Each scammer has multiple accounts on CD, each account pays $150 per month, if there's 100 scammers with 5 accounts each on CD that's nearly a million dollars a year that CD makes that they wouldn't if they actually fixed the problem.

I can't stand dealing with transport brokers. When I moved to FL from NJ, I had to get 6 vehicles shipped down. One carrier picked up 4 of them two days late and wanted an extra $800 at pickup. Fine, I paid the $800 then when he got down here to unload, he demanded an extra $2000 saying he wouldn't off-load. I was on the phone with the broker and they kept giving me the runaround etc... at the end of the day I needed my cars and had to pay. Fortunately the motorcycles were delivered within the agreement. But what a total scam industry. Glad you at least didn't get taken by that scumbag.

That’s probably difficult to do. I have a neighbor who is an owner-operator truck driver. He’s trying to make sure his truck is always moving for he and his family’s benefit. Truck drivers go where there are lots of loads to be delivered. Unfortunately, they can’t really pick a delivery location and stay there. That being said, I imagine Rob could fix this problem and hold the deadbeat logistics companies and bad actor truck drivers to task but it would mean another business and a lot more work. I still think he should do it though. It seems like vehicle transport is really, really bad. I personally think it’s from a lack of competition who care. Rob knows this business as a customer, knows what they’re looking for and what has been lacking. He’s a smart guy and i imagine anyone moving cars frequently, especially for business is freakin fed up. He knows what those customers are looking for and has the financial means to do something about it. I hope he does.

That being said, everyone wants cheap, fast and good. Problem is generally you can only have two of the three. The big three established luxury carriers that generally provide good service are always an option, but nobody wants to pay their rates and wait on their time frames. Instead, they choose the faster, cheaper route... hence Central, brokers and the shit show. The deposit thing alone is low end of the market. And Rob, given your time and experience, you know this.

But why deal with brokers in the first place? There are predefined routes that large carriers operate between major cities, which provide services to car rental companies for example, just contact the company directly and see if they have a vacancy. Of course it is more inconvenient since these companies do not make door-to-door deliveries, and it is you who must conform to their schedule, but at least there is no middleman and you and you know there will be no delays as there are multi-million dollar companies depending on this service.
