Today we bring you a partner stretch that opens the hips while strengthening the core. This stretch also helps dancers to be more aware of their alignment. The dancer being stretched must keep her focus on remaining in imprint. This is similar to the same focus needed to maintain proper hip and rib alignment in their technique classes so it's a lot of bang for your buck. They are working on an alignment focus, improving flexibility, and commuincating with their peers all at once. Take caution to be sure the dancers are mature enought to work with each others bodies in a safe and effective way and definitely supervise to provide alignment corrections as well as corrections to partners who may be providing too little or too much pressure in the stretch.
