He didn't use leather, it's the acitone that made it change the texture of the shoe. He said it's best when you use acitone otherwise it can easily come off.

Teresa Sebastian nah the shoe is leather. Acetone is to remove the industrial finish on them wich stops paint from sticking well.

You can still paint on fabric shoe , i know vans do a fabric version of thes slip on . You just need to add angelus 2-soft or gac 900 in your paint. Also if you paint on fabric no need acetone cause there is no industrial finisher on them. Hope it helped (i surely made some mistakes, but my english bad sry😅)
