This episode brought back some great memories. I lived in Kailua in the mid to late 1970's, and learned to surf in Waikiki and did my first sailing on Hobie 16's off Lanikai and Kailua. Boy, did that spoil me for life! Still surfing and sailing over 40 years later.

I actually got a little choked up a few times during your video. There are so many places you are filming that I've been to in the 2 1/2 years that I lived in Oahu. I was in the Navy and would take the ferry over to Ford Island (past the Arizona Memorial) every day. Thanks so much for sharing your travels and bringing back good memories. BTW, I must have snorkeled at Electric Beach over 100 times. Another great memory. Ron

Thank you for showing us the Pearl Harbor tour. A few years back we were on a cruise around the islands and while on the ship a hurricane passed by the islands and did some minor damage here and there. By the time we got off the ship and over to the visitor center they had closed the whole park for what little damage there was. So we went all that distance from east coast US and never got to see any of this.

When I was sixteen, I was in Hawaii. During that trip, we also toured Pearl Harbor. It was nice to see the island again, even if vicariously through your travels. One thing I would like to ask, when you were at Pearl Harbor did you feel anything? I remember feeling a sincere and heavy weight of the place. Like you could feel all the lives that were lost there.

Great job on the video folks...as usual all nice stuff.....it always looks like you have a great time no matter what the weather gods throw at you! The surfing takes, practice, patience and persistence........and of course good waves! You should head to Australia, the best beaches and surf in the world! (a little bit of bias here!) Keep safe and well, enjoy the family and friends, good for the soul. Alles Gute,

Ron, nice Surfing try. Next time go out farther before wave breaks. Look for right size of wave. Got too time it just right before wave breaks. That's what I learned how. My father served on the US Missouri. Biggest Battle Wagon ever built of the US Fleet of it's time. the German had one but the British sunk it. Bismarck

Wow guys some really great video and drone footage in this episode, capturing all the green lushness of that part of Oahu (Lanikai), and looking down at the beaches there from the pillbox brings back great memories of swimming there at those beaches when I was living / working there. Just FYI, the other large bay in the background and just north of Lanikai is Kaneohe Bay, which has a nice small boat harbour (He'eia Kea). Pirates of Caribbean 4 was filmed there, and one can often come across local fisherman weighing and displaying freshly caught huge tuna. Well done on another great episode. Looking forward to next and to passage making episodes from Hawaii to Alaska.

Michael you and I share the same admiration for Mahla and Johan. They’re so creative and show a great passion for their adventures. This vid in particular had me choked up because I have such a passion for the islands. If they continue on with their adventures they could evolve into a modern day “Wild Kingdom” like Marlin Perkins did in the 60’s & 70,s but on Netflix or HBO. They maintain a level of true sincerity in they’re presentations. I hope they stop in San Francisco on their way to Alaska, dinner will be on me. PS, I’ll kiss the deck of the Missouri.

Bummer, I’d really like to meet them. They seem so down to earth. I’ve watched all their vids and find them educational & entertaining. It’s like their part of my hang out group. I’ve been following several other sailing channels and over the course of a few years and in my opinion they’ve evolved into something that feels a bit impersonal. Obviously I don’t feel that way with Ran.

Yes can't agree more, they are a great couple and their episodes are often inclusive of actual passage making, sailing info, winds speed etc , problems, fixes . When they are ashore they always seem to be so low key, genuine, and gracious to wherever they may be visiting. All void of much of the bad language and sillyness, and beers in hand or chasing sundowners which seem to be such a focus on many of the so called sailing channels. They are my favourite! Check out the Zatara family and Follow the Boat if you have a chance.

Some lovely scenery as you drove around the island, and those battle ships are amazing.I truly wish there was no need for them,as war is such a waste, but in these desperate times, some amazing things are created, and the technology is very interesting. Hope you keep safe and have a wonderful stay, nice to see that new anchor sitting proudly on the front of Ran👍 See you next time😊

My Wife's paternal side is from Oahu. Her paternal Grandfather was a 15 yr old working across the channel in the dry docks on the day of the attack. He received a civilian medal for his actions that day. I taught my Son to surf in Kailua and on a reef off shore between Diamond Head and Waikiki (off Koko Head?). Always up for going to visit that side of the family.

Aloha guys! I started watching you right after you left Sweden while I was anchored off Maui. I followed you through Europe and then across the Atlantic. Then I got busy with other things (sailing from Hawaii to the Pacific Northwest). When I checked in with you again an PRESTO! you are in Hawaii! I hope you have time to return to the Big Island and see some sights on the Kona side. Maui is not to be missed as well. We spent about eight months on Maui. It's a great place to spend the winter, despite what Charlie's Charts and all the marina queens in Ala Wai say. I wrote about it on my blog here: hagothlog.blogspot.com/2017/01/feeling-love-on-maui.html Hope to meet up with you when you come to the Northwest.
