They put a lot of effort into building the tower and house only to knock it down.!!👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦

Ya for sure, once they stopped using the tower method they destroyed a lot of them but there's still a bunch scattered around the country side. They were destroying them right up till when Ford got elected in Ontario, he put a stop to the spending...for now. Soon history will be erased! It was pretty cool seeing the foundation and basement...never seen a Towerman's cabin with a basement before! Thanks Vance!

I saw one still standing, although the top cabin was gone, while moose hunting In Longlac, 2 or 3 years ago. It's a old logging road, called Ragged South, off the Catlonite road.. That's the main logging road that goes from Longlac to Terrace bay,. It's now, stickily a quad trail & would be quite the trek to get to it through the hills & dense bush. A friend pointed it out to me, it was quite the distance away, but I think he said that the tower was on a another road called Long John. I believe it would be much shorter to go through Terrace Bay instead of Longlac. If I remember correctly, Long John Rd. id roughly 44 miles north of Terrace. Hope this helps. We had one on the hill coming into Timmins coming from Goldmine Road, they removed the cabin but repurposed the tower for communications antennas. I remember climbing up to the cabin to visit the ranger in the 1960s when I was still a young schmuck!

Cool! Ya, they had just removed 2 in the Cochrane area just before Ford put a stop to the spending. Eventually they will start destroying them again...gotta get as many as I can documented before they are all gone! Thanks Frederick!

Wish I knew you were going. I need a section of ladder for my silo. Previous owner took the bottom section.

That's too bad. There's a few towers around with ladders laying on the ground...very heavy to carry out though. Good luck!

LOL! I visited one tower years back and found a complete tower neatly disassembled and piled in the bush...the trees thru it were at least 80 years old. It's all still there! Thanks Man!

I wanted to cut a trail in there and haul out enough to build a small tower but it's 700 meters of some gnarly terrain! Someday it will be cleaned up...
