In his acclaimed books, Michael revealed how we can spend our entire lives trying to change our external conditions to "be and feel OK"-when the real problem is what's going on inside.
Now, in this in-depth dialog with Sounds True founder Tami Simon, he draws upon the insights of his course Living from a Place of Surrender to help us identify and release the blockages that cause our suffering.
"Surrender is the willingness to let go. To realize that your thoughts, your emotions, and even your body are not you. That you are the indwelling consciousness witnessing it all."-Michael A. Singer
Learn about your true relationship to the world unfolding around you and to the thoughts and emotions arising within you. But most importantly, you will come into touch with the real “you”-the indwelling consciousness that is witnessing it all.

I've been following Michael for 4 years now. His teachings changed my life, gave me resillience to deal with challenges and improved my inner space. Purification is the path. When you are truly in the path, you will be one of the rare people who feel happy when pain comes. Thank you Mickey for giving us the key to liberation.❤

I’m so grateful words cannot describe how I feel. Thank you Michael and Tami for putting these teachings on You Tube. I purchased the course “Living from a place of surrender,” and it has ruined me. I am no longer satisfied with manipulating the world, I am falling apart, I feel myself dissolving and experiencing extreme disillusionment. Thank you thank you thank you 🙏.

I finally understand babies now. In my whole life I couldn't figure them out. thankyou. Especially the baby blanket, it all makes sense now. I didn't have children, they seemed so alien to me. Grab anything that's steady to build the self concept. This is amazing for me.

Michael Singer's advocacy for "letting go" and "surrender" as pathways to spiritual enlightenment and inner peace is certainly appealing to many. However, one could argue that this approach oversimplifies the complexities of human experience and could potentially be problematic when applied indiscriminately. Firstly, the notion of "letting go" can be interpreted as a form of passivity or relinquishment of personal responsibility. In a world that is increasingly complex and fraught with challenges-be it in business, relationships, or societal issues-taking an active stance is often necessary. The idea of simply letting go could be seen as an abdication of the agency we have to effect meaningful change, both in our lives and in the broader world. Secondly, the concept of "surrender" can be at odds with the human instinct for survival and progress. From an evolutionary standpoint, humans have thrived because of their ability to confront and overcome challenges, not by surrendering to them. In a competitive business environment, for example, surrendering could equate to failure or missed opportunities. It's crucial to strike a balance between acceptance of what we cannot change and active engagement with what we can. Additionally, the idea of surrender and letting go can be culturally specific and may not resonate with everyone. In some cultures, these concepts could be seen as forms of weakness or defeatism, which are not universally accepted as virtues. Finally, while the spiritual benefits of letting go and surrendering are emphasized, the potential psychological ramifications are not adequately addressed. For individuals dealing with serious mental health issues like depression or anxiety, the advice to simply "let go" could be not only ineffective but also potentially harmful without the guidance of qualified professionals. In summary, while Singer's ideas have merit and can offer solace and insight to many, they should not be viewed as universally applicable solutions. Life's complexities often require a more nuanced and multifaceted approach.

Great insight here.... & I finally found someone who gets it, so a real pity we have to PAY to find out about WHY Consciousness gets distracted by pointless or ultimately trivial concerns and how tro Stop that distraction.... I guess its about moving into the "present moment". However the present moment can throw up some challenges that need resolving - a bomb drops on my house.... I escape.... how do I stop the waterfall of thought production that follows from that situation, in the string of present moments that follow like beads on a string?

Funny as it may sound, something as gut wrenching as going through a divorce can be a wonderful opportunity for this kind of work. The pain is already at the surface, you don’t have to search for it. Isolate the pain - NOT the thoughts behind the pain, the pain itself. What does it feel like in your body. Try to connect with it, meditate on it, begin a relationship with it. Go from there!

@@karenf9564 I agree. It was a series of things that happened in a short period of time (including divorce ) that made me want to make a change in my life so I have embraced the pain and the result is tremendous growth in many dimensions in my life. Mind, body and soul! The journey has been and is amazing but truly painful! I have now a new identity and love who im becoming. #spritualawakening

2 years ago I was you. Doing "the work" really makes it an amazing experience, I've outgrown so many things that hurt me and others, pettiness and spitefulness, anger, rage, went through it all, allowed it to run through me and went through therapy, attended self help workshops, read books, Michael Singer is one of my favorites, I am so happy, there was so much blocking me, I feel free! Hang in there, those that thrive post divorce are those willing to use the experience to do better. I've got a new career, job, home, happy space and being an attentive parent enjoying my time with my kid.

What if the "YOU (that is in there)" is merely a part of the physical mind (as when creating, your mind is aware of what works or does not work)? Maybe all the "gurus" are wrong, and we literally ARE the body and ARE the mind (which is what most “gurus” teach . Anyway, I wonder about THAT. With that said, Michael A. Singer point-of-view is AWESOME, and works: Have no way life must go; LIFE’S WAY IS THE WAY; do your best with what is in front of you, and be thankful for whatever the outcome.

I've enjoyed your talks and reading living untethered After 6 years since being bullied out my home in cr ( at 1st expected would be ok, yoga a part life) It's been one move after another go hectic and now!! Very much practice on this and outside seems/is even when let go responding by being abusive and not even what anyone wants Edit story Simplify can't describe now come to write and what if it gets interuptive like people are annoyed your calm , annoyed or taking advantage of your allowed.. Abusive even in a passive aggressive way like always running nails down a chalk board in various ways It's so bad it's funny and I've moved the last few years Applied community why this experiment/ action Any comments Advice on not changing an outer world that's actively interrupting any meditation and creativity time, dislikes your not joining in the rat race for want better word Blah I'm hurting, sore from noise and yes I saw logic I.
