29:15 - eagerness to be dispassionate... is still an activity of the mind, it is still desire. the soul suffers on two accounts - 1) physical pain of the body to which it is bound; 2) capacity to think and therefore it thinks and therefore continues to 'act' on the stage show of life.. So then, while we cannot control what happens to us and the physical pain that may be experienced, we can find out who we are - the observer, the act of observation, and that which is observed.. that state of consciousness frees one from suffering.

People comment on how to slow the speaking down. I downloaded many of Mr. Medicine's fabulous videos into an mp3 format and put them into the Audacity audio editor. Then I put several more seconds of space between the complete thoughts. I think we all have different speeds of comprehension, and this has helped me digest the ideas before the next one arrives. I believe it was L. Ron Hubbard who said that the ONLY difficulty we have with other people is in the different rates of comprehension. If I can understand you quick enough and you can understand me quick enough, we will have a great time together. Love is a function of communication. :)

@Joy Fold Pope is a revered 17/18th century poet of England. His translation of Homers Illiad is a tour de force and was for me, life changing to a life of interest in humanity's unconscious histories through myth. The best poets & teachers offer bones for an imagination to flesh... all wisdom is poetic so imagination over knowledge. Worth a look. Hope that helps.

Noticed while listening How Ramana focuses on the "I am". That is an affirmation of Beingness rather than a negation of beingness. However it is also implied the "Seeker" gets to the bottom of the "I am" to realize its True Identity>>> And also negating its false identity... Then when you are the "I am" the NOn- Beingness is "Self-Evident" & implied. Like a Quantum computer 1 & 0 at the same time " I Am" = "I Am Not" ? I dunno

I find all this 'I am not this I am that' and all the rest a confusing set of thoughts to hold on to during a busy day, life etc.I'm not sure I can without adding to my burdens rather than freeing them.Of course there is process bigger than me that I have no control over. But there is also my life over which I can, with a posertive attitude influence to whatever extent that process allows. I can surrender to that notion because I have no choice. But to go through life referring to myself in the third person(for that is what self inquiry seems to be asking me to do)is a non starter for me right now....You might think this is gobeldygook, but it makes as much sense to me as I,m hearing in this and many other Buddist/Hindu whatever uploads

If the ego is an illusion then there is no ego that actually exists therefore ego cannot do anything and if everything happens according to God's will then God is the only doer. We cannot do anything of ourself so there is no self other than God the one true Self of all. We are completely powerless in and of ourself. We have no control. Everything only happens according to God's will. With all that in mind there cannot be anything for us to do or even can do. The idea that we ever did anything to begin with is an illusion.

Trevor , not necessarily . It can be considered an “ End “ teaching ,but because it is not a teaching in the traditional sense and because there is no End then anyone at any time can realize who they really are as consciousness awake to itself. Because we are always that wakefulness , it won’t be absolutely necessary to have practiced many years . Who we are is available always . we are never not that . There is the idea that one must practice in order to realize that they did not have to practice , but mentioning that to a seeker will throw their mind out of this moment and into the illusory future .
