Declaring war against a civ instead of getting declared war on is surprisingly smart against this stupid AI. They go into some kind of defensive stasis and focus more on defending instead of attacking. It's also easier to declare peace as well and getting something in return.

It's all about practice. Play a few games on Emperor, figure out where you need to improve, then take a stab at Immortal. Play until you're satisfied with playing at Emperor & then have a Deity game or two to see what the AI is beating you at. Just don't do what I did & go from playing okay at King to trying a Deity domination game. I got murderised on turn 15.

From Chieftain to Diety AI is the same, only their bonuses changes, so you are fighting the same AI, in Civ 6 after all these updates AI is really busted, they dont even improve luxury tiles anymore, just pick some early game Civ that can cheese, Nubia & Montezuma are strong early, Gauls get man-at-arms while everyone else unlocking swordsmen. AI is only dangerous on start, later it falls apart completely, game is too complicated for their script i think.

Interesting video, but honestly odds were really in your favour with that setup. AI had much worse lands, they were getting attacked by barbarians cos they all spawned near them (but not near you due to the middle of the map being so crowded) and the loyalty thing. Not saying that it was easy, but if you wanna make it even harder you can try switching barbarians off and installing "capitals always loyal" mod. Quality of the land can probably stay the same cos it's a nice handicap for the ridiculous production bonus Deity AI gets. Cheers.

I think this could have been made a bit harder if the AI wasn't forced to settle their capital cities in the desert and maybe not have so many wonders that can you give science.

Inquisitive Otter said it would be a challenge, but now he's displaying his close to ultimate Neo from the Matrix Civ6 skills. I wonder if there could be a live stream game session, perhaps? If that's too daunting, perhaps Inquisitive Otter could record a game and do a play by play live commentary on his own recorded game? Just to get a feel for live streaming and adjust to that many headed beast? That opens up for a more play by play Questions and Answers session, could that be interesting?

You make it look so easy, but I know it isn't. I only play on immortal or emperor and I would have been dead before turn 10 in this scenario, for sure. I mostly fail because the AI has crossbows and men-at-arms loooong before I have such units myself.

Pound maker isn’t really a warmonger, but in deity basically everyone is, and that early unique unit can be scary

I asked my discord and someone wanted him in the game. Otherwise I would of chosen Scythia or something. But he does like to expand a lot, has strong early unit, and was one of the AIs that declared war on me.

I don't think you'd built any galleys at the point you were worrying about era score - I always like to save a bit of gold to buy a ship/aeroplane/mountain tunnel even if I don't need it, just in case I'm at risk of a dark age!

Not really. There are some mods that change how much the AI values things. Like science, culture, etc. But the modders don't have access to the right parts of the code to make any drastic changes.

Honestly, not sure. I tried to have them all right in the center but loyalty was even more of an issue. Maybe I should of changed the terrain to grassland or something. Maybe I'll do that during a livestream.

I play with Trajan (Rome), Alexander (Macedonia) , Montezuma (Aztec) , and Genghis Khan (Mongolia) in all my games the only one I would consider a war monger is Alexander (Macedonia).

Oh man, Rome always seems to attack me. Same with the Aztecs when you even think about improving a luxury that they don't have.

As long as you don't spawn right next to them, the Aztec are easily one of the easiest to handle diplomatically. Sell any luxuries you improve (which you should be doing in deity early game anyway) and you've got decent odds of getting a declared friendship while you stabilise. Always had more of an issue with Cleo given her agenda is impossible to fulfil early game on deity and her unique archers are a pain to deal with at the start. Playing more tech shuffle recently probably hasn't helped matters.
