Thank you! Just yesterday I helped one of my best friends pack and leave a physically abusive narcissist. She and I have been friends for 15 years. We knew and were close friends with her husband prior to meeting her. We heard of his past abuse but really never SAW IT until we were on a vacation with them. He beat her. We took her out of the situation to keep her safe and flew her home. She left and he wooed her back after a year. 8 years later I moved her out. A narcissist, above all wants to keep a pristine reputation, I knew that if I showed up to help her pack he would be on his best behavior and thank God I was right. He actually helped, and the whole time he was acting like she was just going on a trip. Rarely did my husband and I ever see him loose his temper, he was so good at holding it together around us for a long time and was exposed. I’m ashamed to say that my husband didn’t call him out at any point or help when I packed her up yesterday. Thank goodness she has audio and video of his mental and vile verbal abuse. It’s documented and shared just in case. As we packed he said to me about his wife, “ I’m just not ready for us to be over” choked up and tearful. He is still oblivious as is his enabling family who do not hold him accountable. He will never change and the cycle will continue with the next victim. I’m so sad about this, my friend is starting over with practically nothing financially at 64. It’s not right. But I’m grateful she is safe.

I had an abusive childhood and when I was with my abusive narc husband I reverted back to being a child and would freeze or hide or fawn trying to do anything to please my narc husband and I didn’t realise I was being abused until I caught him cheating and I said we had to do marriage counselling and then in a one on one session they openly said that I was in an abusive relationship and it floored me and it was the beginning of my understanding. I wasn’t strong enough to leave I had no job no income no savings and no self worth it took me a long time to get to the point where I could leave and I only took a couple of bags with me and went to a woman’s refuge and I’ve been getting stronger each day and I’m trying to find somewhere to live permanently and with the help and advice of people like Caroline is so helpful so thank you Caroline you speak from knowledge and you are an inspiration ❤️❤️
