Do you remember the 1989 Charles Stuart case in Boston, MA? Very similar, except that it was a White man (Stuart) who claimed that a Black man had murdered his pregnant wife (Carol), as they they were on their way home from a doctor's appointment. The Boston police went on a rampage, busting in doors of a nearby housing project and assaulting every Black man and teen they could get their hands on. I'm sure you can guess how this all ended. The city finds out that Charles Stuart actually killed his wife and, or because, he had his eye on a pretty blonde who worked with him, I believe. The Boston mayor apologized. The poor father of Carol Stuart was very gracious, despite his sorrow. All of this is to say that the young Black men had to deal with the abuse and anger of the Boston Police Dept while all of this was going on. That the husband was finally found to be guilty did not come as a surprise to any of them.
