As more people expand into areas in Africa that was primarily wild lands there is the inevitable conflict with dangerous game. The caprivi strip of Namibia provided the backdrop for a real life human wildlife conflict situation during our quest for a man eater crocodile. We got the call that a badly injured rogue hippo bull was harassing the local fishing village at night and bedding in the thickets of a small island across from them. We immediately got to the area to talk with the village elder on how we can help. With the assistance of the local fishermen we tracked the hippo into a dense thicket were it was bedded during the middle of thr day. As we crawled to about 25 yards, it was not possible to confirm it was the injured bull. My professional hunter made some noise to get it up. In one motion the big bull came towards us closing the distance to 13 paces at which point a precise strike under some duress dropped him in his tracks. A backup was also put in for insurance. Walking up on the big bull confirmed some serious injuries and scars from a recent fight. It was only a matter of time before people from the village would have been injured or killed by this hippo coming into there crops. The substantial meat harvested went directly to the village, and the local community was very happy the bull would no longer pose a threat to them. It was a unique and exciting opportunity to participate in making a positive impact in a very real human/wildlife conflict. A Hunter's Quest is honored to this very important reality rural Africa and look forward too having along on our next adventure!!!
The future of wild animals across the globe is dependent on our ability to sustain their constantly shrinking habitat. So the question remains. How does this help sustain and preserve the wild lands? It’s very simple, the local communities depend on the revenue generated from sportsmen. They also greatly benefit from the meat harvested during the safaris that take place on their land. Because of this, the game is protected and the habitat preserved.
In this video, we highlight how sustainable hunting makes a positive impact on the game, the wild lands, and local communities. Amazing people, unforgettable views, and an epic journey lie ahead.

explaining how wildlife has value when people are willing to pay good money to hunt it equals conservation is a big help, thank you

Thank you for the question. In most parts of the world, especially in africa and Asia, game that has no monetary value is poached aggressively. Due to sustainable hunting, the game has value to the local communities beyond a meal. It brings in much needed revenue, employment and in addition all meat from the game taken in the local areas. The money spent protects the wild lands and the game that call it there home. That is why sustainable hunting is a important part of conservation. Appreciate the comment

I appreciate you asking the question. Most people unfortunately are not aware of how game conservation works in the real world. Without sustainable hunting, there are alot Of species that would not exist

Well done. An excellent example of a hunter doing good for the locals while on safari. This reminds me of the great stories of Peter Capstick's amazing books of life in Africa.
