To be fair on the shipping thing, it's been around for way longer than the modern day. Loooong before Mulder and Scully, the Ancient Greeks did it with Achilles and Patroclus. Theres 0 implication of anything beyond platonic friendship between them in Homer's writing, but multiple greeks later wrote about how they interpreted their relationship to be romantic or at least sexual. Now it is a widespread belief that Achilles and Patroclus were gay for each other. That is probably one of the earliest examples of "shipping."

Here's a bit of s good news albeit unrelated to your discussions: One Piece Live action showrunners and manga author are fighting back against Hollywood by continuing to stay true to the source material and avoiding (hopefully) modern Hollywood propaganda-driven narratives. Season 2 updates reveal Oda's involvement even more. He constantly checks their work and make requests all the time to steer it in the right direction. It's not even in the contract, only a 'verbal agreement.' But since they're all real fans, they oblige to do so. It's even revealed that executives planned to skip some minor arcs in season 2 before the Alabasta arc. Imagine the Fellowship's journey to Mordor but without going to Rivendell and Lothlorien. Thank goodness Matt Owens fought for it not to be removed. So we are going to have the complete journey in s2 - Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum island. Alabasta will have its own season since it's a very long story. As a fan who has watched a thousand episodes already, this gives me hope.

"Avoiding modern propaganda driven narratives," the same show that has: Casted a trans actor to play Koby. Literally spoiled a MAJOR plotline that doesn't get revealed until 250-300 chapters/episodes into the story (Garp being Luffy's grandfather), and giving an unecessary Koby/Garp storyline in season 1 that took up alot of time that could've been given to the Arlong Park Arc and given to Don Krieg instead of having Mihawk kill him. I'm a fan of OPLA, and I think it did an overall solid job of adapting the manga. But, let's not pretend like the show doesn't fit everything that this side of the internet calls woke: Mr 3 is a cross dresser that perfectly fits the let's definition of non binary. OPLA has alot of race bending (Nochiko, Vivi, Cobra) The FNT cast once used Zoro vs Kuina as an example of how to realistically depict female vs male swordsmen, and how it makes sense a girl would consider the fact that a male would be biologically stronger, yet they clearly weren't aware of the existence of characters like Hancock, the Kuja pirates, Big Mom, Yamato, Robin, Ms. Double finger, etc. There's alot of things about One Piece (specifically the Live Action) that, if any other show did it, it'd be considered woke. It's just that One Piece prioritizes story telling and fun adventure first, so everyone gives it a pass. I wouldn't say the Netflix adaptation will be absolve of the "Hollywood agenda"

Why? because as you said someone like Mr 2 and 3 exist, and later Ivankov. But we give it a pass because the show never forced us to linger into those ideas for too long, and actually focuses on the more important storyline. The truth is I love their character, because despite their appearance and gender preference, their more important human attributes took center stage such as Bon clay's loyalty/determination to Luffy and Ivankov's allegiance to Dragon, etc.

Non-autistic Sonic fan here. Shadow is a true "I can fix him!" type of character and he's probably the best material of the whole series. His girlfriend was killed by the governement (shot by a swat team) and he goes full John Wick against the world after that but gets his cool redemption arc at the end. That Hedgie has been printing money for years and this series of films has just improved over time. Sonic 1 was meh, Sonic 2 was already way more fun, the Knuckles series was good and the third movie will probably be the best.

Thusly, he can't be trusted and they execute him. Quite an easy puzzle to see and piece together. Showing the conversation between bran, sansa, and arya wouldn't have fit the previously established game of thrones elements i.e. deception, plotting. A couple of examples that are hidden story points from the audience are Tywin's red wedding plans, and Olenna's purple wedding scheme. As a writer you wouldn't want to give away the information through dialogue because that waters down the effective visceral nature of the actions then taken. Unless of course, you mean for the opposite to happen. Bran as the 3ER makes for the perfect cataylst to get rid of a character who thinks he knows everything, like Petyr, but in actuality knows very... Little... Finger. Varys' end is just as justifiable. He presumes to make the call on what is right for "The Realm" and lords his opinion over those who don't fit in his frame or philosophy. He is just as bad as Daenerys when it comes to responsibility and power. He has one of those mentalities that needs to get over himself because he thinks he is right when really he doesn't even know if he is correct in his decisions. This leads to his swinging in allegiance of the different leaders. He parallels both Dani, the high sparrow, and Melissandra rather well only he isn't driven by ambition, gods, or even vocation he just has a sense of entitlement and self importance. Like he has to be the one to bring about balance because he has crowned himself with that importance.🙄 Also, Arya killing the Night King was set up in episode one. As a writer you wouldn't include something without intention and arbitrary items aren't really arbitrary. Her arrow hitting the bullseye before Bran releases his is just great imagery and alludes to the ability she will have to do what is required to save westros. And ultimatley it would take a magically endowed being to undo another magically endowed being.

To be fair on shipping, the early Star Trek fandom was filled with Spirk shippers, and several of them were responsible for making/circulating fanzines and newsletters. They helped build fandom as it exists in the modern era. But they did it out of love for the show, and their fellow fans. I didn't have access to Disney+ at the time Mandalorian came out. I was intrigued people were liking it after the Disney movie fiasco. When I would finally get Disney+ I was looking forward to seeing Mandalorian. Then they fired Gina Carano, so that was that and I never watched it.

Late to the party I know. The Lovecraft society did an adaptation of 'The Call of Cthulhu' in the style of a silent movie from the 1920s. HIGHLY recommend it.

The Acolyte is about two female masters who fail at training padawans. Green bald lady failed her padawan, thought he was killed somehow, but he left her and became evil. Master Matrix had a padawan who may be the most powerful Jedi of his generation, but as soon as he becomes a full Jedi, he's suffering from such a severe depression, he puts himself into a Force coma, and then erases himself at the first opportunity.

Man, 30 years old I used to LOVE Rolling Stone magazine. I remember the first one I read had Henry Rollins on the cover looking like a badass, covered in tats, long before tats were popular. Their articles on music and bands were great. Hard to believe it's now Woke nonsense, written by corporate Shills.

Rolling Stone isnt relevant and hasnt been for a while. Whatever giant mega corporation owns the name/brand doesnt care about making money or losing money off of it and its just used to push their propaganda and ideology. It doesnt make them any money and loses them lots of money but its a useful tool for someone whos got so money that they dont care about losses because its worth it for them to keep it around to spread messages they agree with.
