As a child living in the country, Suzanne Valadon had no idea just how the Fates would guide her life in such a fortunate way.
Without a husband to be the breadwinner, Suzanne’s mother moved to Paris to try and make ends meet, and do her best to keep a roof over their heads.
While her mother took in ironing, Suzanne found there was a demand for models to pose for the artists in Montmartre. She quickly became a favourite because of her poise and professionalism.
Having taking up drawing as a child, this was a perfect opportunity for her to study the artists techniques, and her own immense talent was nurtured.
Although her professional life was overshadowed by the huge success of her son Maurice Utrillo; Her paintings are now being discovered by a new generation - her unique style and natural draughtsmanship finally being recognised and given the status it truly deserves.
Oddie Beau's ODDNESS Urban exploration & famous historical features! vintage crime cases & eccentric people from the past! ...and other weird stuff :) ....a dusty store window, filled with ancient alluring oddities. Once you've entered, you'll never want to leave. Quality over quantity.

This video was uploaded to Patreon 2 years ago - all my new content gets posted there first, so I don't have to bow to the YT censors. My patrons support my work so I can continue. But the older videos like this one, eventually come here. I've been on KZbin since 2008 (and made this channel in 2010) ...longer guaranteed than the people from Google who are pressing the buttons at the moment; and the reasons for pushing those buttons are getting even weirder - now even if the word 'suicide' is mentioned, a video will be hunted out by the dreaded AI worm and gobbled up. In 2018 I published a video with the title: The Beautiful Haunting of the Empire State Building - Evelyn McHale - Narrated Version This was a remake of the silent version I made in 2016. This video was removed by KZbin in the last few days. The theme of suicide was not sensationalised, nor was it promoted or glorified. In fact, my end message was reaching out to people to talk about my own experiences, and pleading with young people talk to someone and seek help when feeling suicidal, rather than make any drastic decisions. This video helped many people, I know this from the comments I received, plus people left the numbers of support in their countries/states - they've also contacted me on other social media over the years to let me know that they are glad that they listened to my advice. Empathy and comprehension is needed when evaluating content. Guidelines are exactly that, only a guide, human understanding and context is needed. This unnecessary and heavy handed censorship has to stop. Banning certain words or themes, doesn't stop people having thoughts/emotions about those very words and themes. Swaddling people in cotton wool on the internet, does nothing to prepare them for the cold, harsh reality of the real world. This pernicious invasion of our freedom of expression, is incrementally eroding creativity - and does not bode well for our future. Oddie Beau

Oddie, very well said. UTUBE has to stop censoring words! I don’t care to see graphic bloody accident or murder! But I am intelligent enough to read and understand words. If I don’t know a word I’ll look it up. Well taught by mom! We had numerous encyclopedias as well- also to look up different locations etc.. I’m 65 years old so I should be able to read what I choose. Thanks for the comments and the funny cat! He looks so Regal in his beautiful crown!

@@ObsoleteOddity the fact that KZbin Kids exists but they force the rest of KZbin to be toddler-friendly is ridiculous. I can see why some videos would be age restricted, but not historical ones like yours that don't show anything graphic. I'm a Patreon member but I would much prefer if you could just be on KZbin because I often just forget to go over there!

We are living in really crazy times, like some surreal puritanical but at the same time obscene world that we find ourselves in now. I especially love you read to us! What a tragic start to life for this young artist. It seems the painters most always slept with their nude models!? She had some beautiful talent. As well her son. Thanks again for a deep dive into a fascinating time in history. So prudish in America at that time compared to Europe! PS. Take The Money And Run on a canvas is Artwork: just not what was expected. Yes, if the gallery was silly enough to invest in a con, then they most deservedly deserved to be conned! 😄 Very glad you enjoyed the presentation, my friend!

My grandmother used to be a.docent at an art museum. So I was very fortunate to be able to see many pieces.of art from the period. I would love to see.some.of Suzanne valadon's work. One thing I always though was funny about modern art work is that the story of the piece seemed more what was being paid for danger than the art itself. Once there was a pile of trash and there was this really long story about how it represented the decay of societies morals. I have to say these artists.must be really charismatic to get museums to buy theses pieces. I wonder if the man giving the blank canvases is hoping his charisma will.allow him to.keep the money.

What a beautiful cat picture! Now, the cat would not call that incident a blooper. The cat would call it proof of cat neglect, even abuse, because we ALL know never to ignore a cat at a closed door. Never ever. 😅 Great video, Oddie. I so enjoy the bios you do of historically obscure people. I have a feeling she wasn't lonely at the end of her life but just felt comfort in her lifestyle. I hope so, anyway. I recently saw a funny post with the question being "what have you learned in your older years." The person answered he has come to understand why the Grinch wanted to live alone with his dog. As I'm in my older years I understood completely! 😅 I need my friends and family if course, but being alone doesn't always mean "lonely." Take good care. ❤

Since this video was made, she has become quieter as she is 18 going on 19 now but she is certainly still a terror, and makes sure that I cannot ignore her 😄 I’m very glad you enjoyed the video, that’s very kind of you. There is a saying: "Never Less Alone than when Alone." - some people can enjoy their own company, and so what may appear to others as loneliness because they are alone - may not be the case. As we get older, we do not need a clamour of people around us.

A couple of artists I've modeled for have asked me to behind their lovers--not quite so directly. I prefer to keep the relationships more professional, though the man who convinced me to start modeling had been my lover, and a few used me as a model after we had been lovers.

My bf and i saw a dahl exhibit in boston it was quite fansicinating. It sounds like something up your alley Oddie. He took a lot of influence from other painters from the 1890’s and gave them a surreal twist. His later works also became very religious and there is a famous museum in florida and there was a movie about him from actor robert patterson. Disney and dahl did a short together called destino which i also recommend

Our...Dear...Sir 🎩--- I'm glad I just dumped a rather shell we say an 'angry' bit of.... 'expresssssstions' about YT cencership of your videos.... ALOT ...of work & love....goes into each and every video you create. Fighting for the 'under-dog' ....like the talented artist in this presentation. Teaching us things about folks -- what they gone through-- just to try to express themselves -- like here-- through their 'artwork' -- on 'paper' or 'canvas' or stone or clay forms' OR in video form. Maybe 'if' instead of 'cencership'' maybe YT could actually 'watch' & -- learn from your video..... presentations (😮) they could see the importance of learning from what other's fought so hard for -- just to share their 'artwork' to the world. People can be inspired...to take heart...and courage to present 'their artwork' to the world as well. And banning showing where folks can go to-- to possibly get the much needed 'help' for the...shall it be said like this.... 'Sue....A....'side' ...word ! (spelled wrong on purpose) Don't worry --- 'WE'...LOVE YOUR. 💖 WORK....💖🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘 We'll always hop🦘🦘🦘on over to see whatever🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘 presentation that we're very lucky at you wanting to ...SH🦘W. Oh?! And it's always so much fun to hear... KING KITTY in the background & on the screen here. .... NOW...stop reading my silly comment and fed & see to KING KITTY-- before he has his 'guards'🐴💂🐴💂🐴 toss you in the 'kitty litter bin'! 😂 ( I hope this silly bit gave you a smile) Ur bud, 🎩🍻👻 P.S. YOU'RE...luved ..ALL over the world. ...Please remember that. ( I had to come back and edit out YT's that had 2 lines through them-- I said nothing not nice-- you have my word on that. Glad they can't 'cencer' our 'thoughts (in our minds)'...well...at least not for now.)😳😉

Thank you for your kind support Ruth, yes it’s very sad when corporate governments get involved, plus the far left, to start censoring and erasing creativity in history. Especially videos that are of benefit and help people who are in a dark place - this really makes you realise the lunacy that is descending upon us. How many more words will be made taboo and cancelled? Our kitty Granduchessa Bonchenelli is still terrorising us at the grand age of 18! She demands the finest of foods, and every hour of the day attention heaped upon her 😄 Have a great start to the week my friend and hopefully the removal man finally take your furniture to the new apartment!

@@ObsoleteOddity You're welcome kind sir, I'll ALWAYS be in your corner & try to promote your work & channel. 18 years old, WOW, that shows the love & care you both give her & and sweet doggie who lived a long happy life. Animal's sure do enrich our lives, true gifts from God. Their 'demands' -- love, kindness & attention -- About your work... You give love, kindness & attention to the underdogs... You're careing & standing for the under dog like the nice lady artist & the way she had to do things dout she would have done to get her work seen. It's a shame she couldn't have gone to an art school to learn more things & maybe met folks that could have gotten her work to the attention of gallery's that could have shown her work to many more people without having to 'sleep around' - casting couch 'stuff'. I know this isn't a political channel but maybe if all the governments of the world could put aside their difference's and realize that if there's a WW3 -- there won't be a WW4-- with nukes ect. IF people would spend work as hard on positive things instead of negative stuff how more advanced the world would be say in the medical fields, take away the stigma of reaching out for mental health CARE-- maybe they'd be way less suicides & such -- they'd be way better health care ect. As far as the furniture -- this Tuesday I'm going to ask for help at the next Vet dinner meeting if I can get some guys to help. The apt management is barely there -- how they keep their jobs is beyond me. You go to the 'top', file complaints & they're just put in a cabinet & not addressed. That's why I'm working so hard to finish 2 books & have to quit stalling & DO the coin thing, then just move. It would have been nice to be able to help everyone in the apt. building to improve things -- but no one will stand together to get things done... that's just a sad fact. Getting back to animals -- I'm really thinking about getting a 🐕 dog now that I'll have a way better fixed up apartment. Think I should?

@RuthShelton-ou4id that’s so kind of you Ruth, I think you mentioned the other day, but I’ve had so many comments since then because of posting this video - about whether you should make a new Patreon account, well if you definitely cannot get into the old one, following the instructions that I left you previously, then that might be the best bet. Yes, our kitty is 18 years old and, although she’s slower she’s still very naughty! I can’t believe that your apartment manager gets her regular paycheck, but is never there? That is total madness and really needs to be looked into. Did you find out who your local ombudsman is? Reach out to them and tell them what’s going on. Oh that’s fantastic that they at least allow pets in the HUD. A little dog would be fantastic company for you!

@@ObsoleteOddity Since getting a new apt I'm just going to chill out & work to find a way to move. Have tried in the he past to complain & they just file the complaints in a file cabinet. I'll wait till I get a new phone then re-try your suggestions -- that should work -- if not-- then stop payment & re-up. I'd like to get a German shepherd puppy. When having a working phone can call a taxi to bring the dog to proper Vet place -- for shots & regular normal Vet care. Would you know a good German name I could call him? Way back in CA days I'd get to walk a fellow apt friends big German shepherd who understood both German & English. He'd bring you his leash -- He's the one that found the poor lady that was buried in a kid's school yard. We were passing through the yard when he refused to leave & started digging -- and green fingers appeared! The police took over from there, they kept stuff hushed up pretty much. Any way -- the dog & we'd get out of the funny farm-- (apt😉) for a bit and I'll spend a lot of time on play & training. You pay $100. 'pet fee"-- which when you move out & no pet 'damage' then you're so posed to get that $ back along with the deposit $ -- of course they make a person wait 3 months to get it. What they don't tell folks is that if the deposit $ comes past 3 months -- they then owe you 3 times as much.

Interesting that we call the Adam and Eve painting as "nudes" and yet it's only Eve who is nude.🤔 I sure get the anxiety and missing his Moms service. I have some issues like that. I missed my oldest bros private picnic and placing of the ashes, tho I was at the church. And my sisinlaws service at the church. My baby bros wife of almost 30yrs. I still feel horrible about that. Idk why I can't get past those feelings when they come...or why I have them. This was very interesting and gratifying that she DID get noticed and also her ill son. Thank you Oddie. I saw another movie with TONS of vintage cars, but I can't remember the damn name! I may have put it somewhere so maybe I'll find it. It was an awesome array of autos! I hope you and Oddette are good🙏🏼🌹🫶🏼🖼️🎨🖌️
