Suzuki Gixxer has been one of our favourite sporty commuters, but it left us wanting for a bigger and more potent variant. Well, the Gixxer SF 250 is now here to fill that void.
It features a sharp fairing inspired by bigger GSX-Rs and LED headlamp to set it apart in a crowd. The quarter-litre single-cylinder engine gets fuel-injection and an oil cooler. The 26.5PS and 22Nm output might not be enough to set the tarmac on fire, but it does make the SF 250 look like a promising everyday bike.
No doubt Suzuki is late to the party, but has it been worth the wait? Shumi took the Gixxer SF 250 for a spin at the Buddh International circuit to find out.

Let's not forget that Honda actually did its share of work in India like waaaaay long ago...not an excuse for them to not update their motorcycles though..but still man, they aced it with that CBR. Also don't forget that they are launching cb300r quite soon...or have they already?🧐

People are shouting Dominar Dominar everwhere, get this.. Dominar is not half as stylish, and half as reliable, doesn't have a fairing, and has no wow factor. I won't live with that engine as I'm seeing a new dominar started sounding typical bajaj like after just 1 month. Where my SF 155 after 4 years still sounds the same..

Even we love the original! So the word is, there will be a naked Gixxer 250 after all, and it'll go on sale in the next few months...

@@powerdriftofficial That is actually meaningful. I think Indian market needs naked 250s which are a bit mature. Many people find Dukes too aggressive in performance and radical in styling.

@@siddharth.gautam Dude, compare the number of nakeds vs number of faired bikes below 300cc. Every new product is naked only. Disappointing to someone like me who loves sports fairing. Now in 2020, we have no other faired 250cc, which was what I wanted, so naturally opted for SF250. But, still hate the fact that every manufacturer simply ignores sports fairing lovers.

@@phabove7 Nakeds sell. That's all there is. And faired motorcycles are still a niche product. Anyways, almost every manufacturer has got at least one fully faired motorcycle in their sub-300 segment, if you care about only fairing.

Dprsd Afk We has just 30 min on the 250 and 15 on the 150. But my bad, sorry! FWIW, the 250 is a sweet engine with a great torque curve and has a decent top end too. On the BIC, most of us saw 150kmph (indicated). Little vibration past 8,000 in the footpegs. The real test will be on the street and we wait for the test bikes to come.

Suzuki is Beast. I am a owner of SF 155, bought it some years ago, and I am totally satisfied and amazed with its performance. May be I am not going to switch to any other in the future as well. Suzuki is the best!

I feel the 250's mature behaviour could be the reason to reach a wider audience. Specially who wants a faired touring motorcycle which can be used in the daily commute. Let's see getting test ride soon for the 250 just to get the feel of it. BTW great work same day shoot, edit and upload of a video still maintaining the quality. Hats off #TeamPD.

Unfortunately, given just 30 min on 250 and 15 on the 150, that too on a track, a more precise review would be inaccurate. But I promise a comprehensive PD review once we have the test bikes. Stay tuned!

@Vishwash S for a scooter yeah.. but the burgman tyre proportions takes away its advantages. Suzuki should have gone for bigger and wider tyres. As for the rest of the design, the tyres look out of place, its too small for rest of the scooter. But for sf250 it definitely could have been better. It just looks so plain... Dont know it simply isnt good at all. Cant even compare with that of cbr250r.

Just got my sf250 day before yesterday and enjoying riding on it ..engine is a pleasure and has got a great grunt and pick up for its class ..definitely a head turner on the roads ..city rides gng to be fun

How much it costs on road? I'm also planning to buy but confused with suzuki's plans on this one. They didn't even change the design and doesn't get any updates on this one other than the bs6 complaint

@@aswinjose8156 got it on road for 2.4L, as per the company they have made some tweaks in the engine and the design is such that I wouldn’t think it would go out of style…looks are excellent and I have no complaints in the looks department….the ride quality and engine refinement is excellent and totally happy with it. Gear shifts are a wee bit harder than expected(especially getting it in neutral.. but you get a grip of it after riding a few days) but not a deal breaker for sure. Also, the ride connect model now comes as standard and there is no model without ride connect so you can’t opt for the 2.25L model…I had a few connectivity issues with my iPhone with the ride connect but it automatically resolved after 3 days or so on its own. The ride quality is really magnificent and I would personally not want to make much changes to the design(as there’s no guarantee that the change would me positive)

Shumi always gives you all the information in a short and crisp manner. Those who saw the 150 cc comparison video by shumi when the Gixxer Naked bike was launched can understand why Gixxer 155 is still the favourite bike for him.

Fun. I thoroughly enjoyed riding my 150 SF on the BIC. I brushed my toes on my first ever track encounter. Mind you I used to be afraid of corners. I still am- on public roads at least. To keep some room for comfort, I wasn't expecting the 250 to have any better cornering clearance.

Suzuki played really well in terms of competition, they placed the bike between Yamaha fz250 and Honda CBR 250 because the pricing difference of these two bikes was huge so now Suzuki is there as an option.

Background music is so loud that I had to replay some sections to understand the voice. Mobile speakers are more responsive to high frequency sounds than vocals. So please make them neat and clean PD.

Came here to watch an informative review of this bike, not disappointed. Shumi hits the nail with this review. Although, I don't agree with Honda's pricing. They can learn something from Yamaha!

"keen on getting one".... I'm pretty sure that u don't have the financial means nor the right set of contacts to rent the BIC or any other race track for testing ur pro biking skills... Real world performance and conditions differ a lot. I'd say that u better take a test drive. Otherwise go for the 2019 Dominar or the Interceptor 650 if u can loosen ur purse strings a bit.

I mean that the sense of excitement of the 155 has calmed a bit with the 250. Which makes it more useful but touches your heart a bit less. And to me that feeling is > specification.

Shumi is a veteran in the field of auto journalism. Huge love and respect for the man! But this is Powerdrift! We love PD for the barely contained excitement and enthusiasm while sampling anything on wheels. This is a hugely sedate review and in stark contrast to our regular PD style.

@@Vikas-gz5ld There's absolutely no shade on Shumi. I've been his fan ever since I started reading Overdrive, and then watching his reviews on KZbin. But for me, PD was a breath of fresh air with their awesome editing and music. But most of all, the sheer enthusiasm of the hosts, mainly Sarge and TenHut.

Rushikesh Ware Because the thing that makes the 155 truly special for me in the segment is it’s sense of involvement. Nothing else elevates the bike as much as that.

It can never do that coz that motor of CBR has a special pep in it and one can only understand when they experience it . And , yeah I am a proud owner of that machine which can still all these new engines It has everything but certainly disappoints at the low end ..

Wow, Both Suzuki bikes looks similar and stunning. Great to see them soon on the Indian roads flying high and low. Unfortunately now am in the 40's bracket and would like something quite mature and not a sporty feel like my yesteryears. Haven't seen a bike that one feels the satisfaction owing one. Loved the XSR700CC design but can't own it due the higher bracket price and also not yet lunched in the Indian market. Well am still browsing and waiting for my kind of bike. Enfield 350X, NS200CC or Dominar 400cc maight become my choice if I don't find one in the coming years. Lastly hoping for the best and let's leave the rest in destiny's hand.

Waiting for a proper road review of these bikes... Especially 150 sf. Please also tell acceleration figures and top speed for both. And what is ideal cruising speed for sf150 on highways. How big a difference does increased weight and decreased power make for the sf150. And how do clip ons affect long highway rides in terms of confort.

This only has oil-cooling, not liquid cooling, Vinay. Hence there's no conventional radiator.

I'm really a fan of Suzuki's styling on motorcycles (except the Inazuma of course). The aesthetics aren't the best part about the motorcycle and it shows. It's like they beg you to look past what's visible, to ponder upon what makes this motorcycle feel special and when you realise it you're blown away. On the plus side, the design grows on you as the years and kilometers pile up.
