Everyone is incorrect about the chain being too tight. Suzuki specs the chain tension to be .8-1.2 inches or 20-30mm of play. Thats 2-3cm. This was perfect. Good job man!

thanks for the video but this is not good. 1) The chain looks way too tight. 2 - 3 cm of play at the center (half way between the front and rear sprocket is recommended for the Gladius/SV650. 2) When turning the allen screws do a 1/4 turn at a time and re-assess. Importantly, do the same number of turns on both sides to keep the chain aligned. This is of course assuming that the chain was aligned in the first place. 3) When the correct chain tension is achieved, tighten the axle bolt to specification. According to Suzuki this has to be ~100 Newton meters (75 foot pounds) using a torque wrench. Dont over- or under-tighten. 4) When the axle is tight, gently tighten the allen screws. 5) After you are done tightening everything check that the chain tension is still correct. 6) Clean your chain gently, not using any abrasive cleaners. These chains are sealed and you dont want to have any harsh degreasers enter the chain seals. Let the chain dry. Afterwards lubricate with proper chain wax or gear oil. Wipe off excess lubricant. Ride safe my man.

Totally agree with G B, chain too tight which will cause it to stretch even more. An oldish chain like this should be cleaned first and checked for tight links and broken rollers. Check the chain tension in various positions by turning the wheel and set the tension at the tightest spot. Remember, as the suspension is compressed the chain will tighten up a little because the pivot point of the chain is the front sprocket but the pivot of the rear sprocket is the swing arm, so a little slack is required. I prefer to use only old engine oil to lube my chain, grease traps grit and damages the chain, Lubricating the chain is only on the outside, the seals 'o' ring or 'x' ring prevent dirt, water from entering the rollers and will also stop oil and grease too. And please use a "proper" spanner or you will soon have rounded corners on your nuts and bleeding knuckles.

I was thinking I needed to buy a bike jack to do this! Not no more! Thanks! I have a 2013 Gladius, and this will be a simple procedure!

The lines on rear nut are not always so reliable when I'm measuring. You can also use tape measure/ruler to measure from rear axle nut to the nut right above right foot peg & left foot peg. Once they are equal distance both sides. Your chain is aligned. I used to check the lines, but one day it was wrong. Even though both sides lines were equal.
