Just wanted to to say this bike looks awesome. I have a GS550E that I'll be attempting to turn into a cafe racer this summer, and this has definitely added a little motivation. Great job.

Nice job. I have a 78 and it's all original now but after 3 years of riding it daily I think I'm ready to cafe it out. Thanks for the ideas.

It's nice that you showed us WHAT can be done with the GS550. But, even better, would have been a video or videos showing us HOW you did the work.

Fantastic stuff, I have just read through your build on the forum. I have bought a 1981 gs550e off eBay and started chopping. If you don't mind me asking, what jets did you use in the carbs, this is something I still need to face. Thanks jason

I love what you did to the bike man. Ive found myself the exact same model, a gs550. The thing is though i have zero experience in building one, this will be my first. Is it mechanically-friendly?

hi i just bought a 1981 gs500 to restore, do you know what model the mikuni carburettors are? thanks
@submoto9 жыл бұрын
What size did you have to re-jet to, with that air filter, and has it given you any trouble? They say those CV carbs have a hard time with anything but the stock filter.

Really nice build. I've got an 81 550T as well. Will be rebuilding it soon. Hoping to put on a 650 top end and block etc. Is the jet kit the one for the 550M? What coils and leads are you running? By the way man, this is one of the best, if not the best, GS550 build I've seen.
