A quick tip for caddo if the water is above the river banks you need to fish the main lake. Any sort of cypress island is good. Crips camp is a good spot. If you ever go back and want a fishing freak to go with you I would be more than happy to come.

Thanks for another adventure, be safe! I heard you mention you had no bilge pump on your boat. I diy'ed a small boat and mounted a strong float style pump to a 3/8" piece of plastic. Counter sunk stainless screws from the bottom. I used heavy duty velcro to the bottom of the boat and the plastic. Had it 5 years and it never came loose. When your boat is out in the rain and all connected it can rain all night and when you get in the boat it will be almost drained. As soon as you start to run the boat the rest will drain right out. Give it a try or some variation. God bless!

Lake uses to be full of jackfish (pickerel) may still be but I haven't caught any there in quite a few years. Used to, in the springtime the Jacks would slay a orange belly rogue. Couldn't hardly catch a bass due to the jack bite. But there's a way to clean the Jacks so that the filet is boneless, and it's some of the best eating meat in these waters..
