Put a vr38 into a r34 and no one bats an eye. Put an rb26 into a r35 and everybody loses their minds
@alexandre920997 жыл бұрын
hy would you put an rb in an r35 not only is stupid was you would be losing power
@twinkletoes89846 жыл бұрын
Takumi Fujiwara the vq and rb are both capable of similar power and the rb has a better power curve
@Zonda19966 жыл бұрын
Uhh even a NEO RB can’t overcome the reduced displacement over a VR38. It has a more advanced camshaft and more displacement = better torque curve. Also as far as drag builds are concerned, the VR38 block can withstand much more cylinder pressure before splitting the block.
@SigTheSauceMan6 жыл бұрын
But what if you put an S20 into an R35?
@exero47386 жыл бұрын
this comment is from 2 yrs ago but I can't ignore the urge to reply, there's rb26 blocks that can take 1500 hp, when you swap an engine chances are that nothing is stock anymore. Every engine has it's perks. the rb26 has advantages/preferences that the vr38 doesn't have.

+Nick Jovanovic There are 'stock' cars that come with forged cranks and there are stock cars that come with titanium rods... Like I said, forging is a process. They have forged and billet cranks. One is not better than the other per se... It's like they have titanium, aluminum and steel rods. All depends on the application and the purpose.

1. Were they talking about 4-Wheel DRIVE or 4-Wheel STEERING? Because I know the R35 doesn't have HICAS, but the Skylines do. And a VR38DETT actually sounds better in an R34 than it does in an R35. It actually sounds like a way beefier RB28DETT (from the VspecII Nur, Mspec Nur, and NISMO Z-Tune). But I still firmly believe it would be much better to put the REAL godzilla engine in an R35. NOTHING compares to the RB26DETT/RB28DETT.
@MotiveVideo6 жыл бұрын
4WD in the title stands for four wheel drive. thought that was self explanatory. Why would we put four wheel steer back in? Its junk and belongs in the bin with GT-Rs. Secondly, why would you put a smaller, weaker engine into an R35? Its heavier and needs the torque of the VR38. If it was worth doing, someone would have done it.
@SigTheSauceMan6 жыл бұрын
I commonly hear people talking about their Skyline GT-Rs and confusing the 4WD and 4-Wheel Steering features with each other. And as for the engine, I very much prefer the sound of the RB26 over the VR38. And the 4-Wheel Steering is bad? I thought that was one of the things that made the Skyline better with handling.
@MotiveVideo6 жыл бұрын
everyone removes the four wheel steer in GT-Rs. Its not great for track work, handling once modified or racing. Thats why. Group A racers removed them and all time attack cars remove them. Drag racers remove it. Its just dead weight and makes car unpredictable when it has more power and is modified.
@SigTheSauceMan6 жыл бұрын
Ah okay. So basically, Nissan's HICAS 4-Wheel Steering system was, in theory, a good idea, but in practice failed to perform as expected and instead is a detriment to the vehicle's performance to a potentially dangerous degree. Is that about right?
@gaiustrollius99208 жыл бұрын
I think it's a bit rear-wheel-drive biased at the moment? But anyways, like you said, it's still in development. Those launches were a small sniff of coke for me xD

Is it just me or does this car not sound like a VR38 at all?
@MidShipCivic8 жыл бұрын
No it's just you it sounds exactly how it's suppose to, it's not a on a dual clutch transmission there is a 3rd pedal, huge difference in engagement characteristics.
@MotiveVideo8 жыл бұрын
It sounds different as the exhausts are totally separated and we have long runner exhaust manifolds.
@MidShipCivic8 жыл бұрын
***** he expects it to sound like a GTR, but a GTR's transmission makes the car sound as if it's on an automatic it doesn't allow a decel or manual disengagement to no load.... However, if you listen to GTR drag cars like T1 performance with the exhaust right out of the hood, you'll find it sounds very similar.
@CapeRoadsPOV8 жыл бұрын
MidShipCivic it doesn't sound like the T1 car IMO. I dunno, even other R35's with front mount turbos and longer runners don't sound like this. But like you said, the transmission could be a part of it. Not a criticism, merely an observation.
@MidShipCivic8 жыл бұрын
Jason Clifton This is because you don't know anything, the engine tone is very similar to a T1 GTR and I believe I said there is no driver controlling engine engagement to clutches which highly effect the sound For you to say it doesn't sound like VR38 is like stupid it is a VR38 that's what they sound like remove the dual clutch and it sounds like a spaced out V6. Because, a GTR is doing it under computer control and it will create a repeatable tone, clutch engagement/disengagement at the same conditions everytime. Rather than a sequential shifted transmission with the driver controlling the clutch at his discretion. Do you need me to repeat the same thing again ?

It blows my mind that shops can afford to build cars like this! The engine/trans and swap alone is like $40,000-$50,000 probably not including all the aftermarket parts. Easy $100,000-$150,000 R34! Probably more money than that..
@MotiveVideo8 жыл бұрын
It's not a shop that is building it. Gup from Powercruise technically owns the car and foots the bill, however, Motive DVD is in charge of the build and building it as if it is our own, using our contacts and sponsors to help build it. It is true that a custom build like this done by a "regular" person would cost well over 400K, it in fact will owe us less than half that. Expensive, yes, but nothing compare to some of the cars coming out of AMS and Underground Racing etc
@cxbra8 жыл бұрын
Very true, its just very mind blowing how many people have LEGIT money.. Those Underground Lambo's have to be like $800,000-$1,000,000 builds!
