Sweet Dustin..you can add some cable ties to gimbal bracket loosely as a secondary safety,so as to not inhibit dampening and to ensure not losing gimbal and cam🙃

Bought the SplashDrone 3+ and got so great encouragement frim watching your video. Had a lag response from controller to drone and after properly doing the accelerometer callibrations solved it. Was wondering the distance but your video answered it - 2.2 km wow! Currently doing the water test in my pool but will try it in the surf soon thanks to your bravado I have some confidence.

I have a older Splash Drone 3 and a Spry but this hint is or any water landing drone. Have a bottle of fresh water and rinse it off and dry with a towel before opening. I enjoy your reviews.

It definitely has its quirks to work out but all in all what an amazing drone and piece of technology! I’d love to have one but I would probably have to wait for a great deal on a second hand splash drone!

Better hope nothing is defective when you get it, the company is out of China and they will say the defects are from something you did so they don't have to repair the drone without you paying. You might want to do some research regarding this company before dropping serious cash to purchase this thing.

Here's an idea, when fishing premake up your hook section with each hook in a small container of burley, then refreeze and keep them in a small chillibin, so each hook has it's own tiny burley bomb, and send them out frozen, up's your catch rate.

I wrote the U.S. Swellpro authorized repair company ( Urbandrone) about the problems you seem to have with it, but overall, looks like a very useable drone for the water and fishing. Kudos on tne great ariel video shots! Would make for some great stills, too.

The toggle switch may only be a selector , could there be a separate button to start video or take a picture.Also I think when it's inverted. & he arms it & it Auto-Flips he may be disarming it when he does it again.

Keep it sealed good. Rinse and dry well after salt water exposure and it's solid. I fly a full battery after freshwater dunking or rinsing as a method of drying it all out before storing and I throw one silica bag in the battery hatch 🍻🤙

Thanks. Nothing actually broke though. The gimbal pulled off the rubber dampers and mounted back up easily. I'm actually happy with it's strength for hitting the water at about 30mph 🙂

the roll feature is really nice, have you seen any other style controllers that aren't joystick related like a twist style before mate ? like a neg-gon controller form ps1 ? i found the joysticks a terrible way to control something like a drone even when delicate

Hi Dustin I am about to buy a drone and my 2 options are the phantom 4 or the swellpro I'm not an extremist in fishing but carrying 800g baits would be enough for me. What would you recommend? I'm abit scared of the swellpro as other people say the 3 was a horror story and was not willing to buy another splash drone. I am at a give or take with the drone purchase as I was told that the phantom was never built too fly bait or go out too sea, and that the motors will seize up

If it's mainly for above water use I'd get the sd3+ For added weight carrying capacity and waterproofing. If fishing or use over water is a once in a great while secondary thing, I'd get the phantom.

Hey David. They have had the most experience so far but the tech needs to improve to today's standards. I'm testing the PowerEgg X right now on my channel that is waterproof with a casing. I'll need to see how that does in the water before any recommendations 🍻

You may have hit it's programmed distance limit or had interference. You can check if the limit is off with software from swellpro on your computer 🍻

It's made in China, has very poor support and god forbid anything be defective because they will say it's your fault so they don't have to repair it without you the customer paying for said repairs. There's a lot of shady practices going on with this company. Plenty of info on KZbin regarding those practices as well. I'd stay far away from this thing and pray DJI makes something water proof in the future.

Great review. Took mine out to the beach for the first time. Did experience the unlevel horizon on the controller but that didn't cause any problems for me. I did not run into the non recording problem though. Although I was using the PL3 camera and bait release instead of the 3 axis camera. Update if you get a fix for that horizon. Did you do the firmware updates?

Thanks. The PL3 only stabilizes the up/down pitch so the roll/horizon is just fixed to the drone movement. Before I do more I'll update and set everything again to see the difference 😁🤙

Hey Dustin. I am up here in SE Alaska. My SPLASHZONE 3+ has arrived! It’s a serious piece of equipment. I’ve been enjoying taking off, flying and landing in ATTI mode but I’d like to use the GPS flight mode and features but am not having much luck locking onto satellites. Yesterday was clear and I had a wide open area with only 11 satellites bouncing between 0-11.. Do you have any suggestions for me? How many satellites are you able lock on to down there in Hawaii? Thanks for doing this review. I live on a boat and kayak and do a lot of water sports so looking for a waterproof drone but looks like from all the fails on this one I'm going with a Mavic Air 2S, I'l just get the Refresh insurance, aftermarket wetsuit and floats/water landing gear instead.

those screw downs on the battery compartment should have a locking click so you know they're tight as not to over tighten & strip the threads. what a beast. Nice review...look'n for that bait fishing video coming :)

I really don't like the landing gear. It would be better if they had a manually folding system or a lock screw to secure them. I fear that in time the slot will wear out and the gear will fall off. You pretty much demonstrated this possibility with that one peg being so tight!. It's a great product but definitely needs some refinement. I think we will not likely see integrated app function and digital signal because WiFi doesn't work nearly as well in moist and rainy conditions. Maybe a Bluetooth connection for when you are close to change settings. The camera settings could have another radio at a different frequency but they'd have to feed the setting display back into the FPV signal to see what setting you are on. I'm not sure how that could be done for on the fly setting changes.

Hi there I’m in New Zealand and have the splash drone 3 + cost 3000 first flight great 2nd done auto return and land missed its spot hit log damage to prop got new props done 2 more good flights then flew in a gentle breeze it done auto land but it tipped back and broke a prop in half now I need 3 new motors as the shafts are bent luckily I got it from local hobby shop and the owner is goin to take it back and sort it all for me then do a few flights for me all in all it’s an amazing machine for fishing but I think for 3000 nzd it’s a bit pricey

Got it. Yes the auto land accuracy can be up to 5 or so feet off so best to be ready with the sticks and/or just turn off RTH when it's above and take over manually like you mentioned for final smooth landing 👍. Hope you get it patched up.

Dustin Dunnill yea ur right it is off by about that much and yea ur correct I need to take over when it’s above me and land it manually, the reason it crashed was because I was relying on the rth to land it without me knowing it was that far off so really it was me not bein 100% careful and knowing more about it but all good I do now cheers for ya help

Thank you. I have used the app control and it does work but usually just fly without it which seems to eliminates more setup time than it's worth.
