I have learned so much from you. Our daughter and family have been at Cocoa Beach for 3 days. They are absolutely loving finding shells. We have chatted and she has sent pictures. I have told her what some of the shells are. Today she did a video chat of her and our granddaughter at the beach. She said Mom I just called to take you to the Beach with us. It was so much fun. I was so excited ! The found angel wings, scallops,slipper snails, and many more. She was amazed that I could tell her what most of them were. She also found a dead sea star with 8 legs. It was huge. Thank you for all of the work you do to make these videos. They are the highlight of my week. ❤

I finally made it to Ft Myers beach last October 30th? Came from our annual Schnauzerfest pilgrimage from Rome, Georgia. We have been to Sanibel Island the last 2 years! So beautiful and this last year I found several calico scallops, which I think are beautiful! Thank you Charmaine (sp?) for the Sunday videos! I wish I lived closer to shell more especially since I’m retired. We r from Kansas and can only come once a year for now!

Terrible sense of direction. lolLove the Crown conchs. Hard to find for me. That's a gorgeous Shark Eye. wow. Love Alphabet Cones. Love the Murex. Those coquinas were adorable. Love them. 2 Tulips with drill holes? I'm surprised. lol. First time seeing that. That tinted Cantherus is beautiful. Love that last Calico Scallop wow. Oh, the dredging. Hmm. So Cool. What a relaxing beach walk! Hope you are feeling better. Last week we started at FMB access 11 and made it just past the old fishing pier. I wanted to go further, but these old legs objected. Lol. Now we are booked on a tour with SWF Shell Guide. (There is a pull down menu where you tell how you heard of the tour. Your you tube channel is there to click on.) We have been to both Dickman’s and Kice and 🤞🏼we will go to Kice. We are flying home next week due to problems with my cataract surgery and are getting cortisone shots in our knees so hoping I can walk farther on the shell tour.

Late again, but I have an excuse! I was writing a message to an angel and getting items together to make someone's life better and feed their kids. Forgiven? Ft. Myers Beach! So much fun! Speaking of rebuilding the beach, did you know when the beach at Panama City was "renourished" after a hurricane a few years back, the Corps of Engineers took the sand from that mythical place called "the trough", where the good shells are dropped by the waves. People were going through the piles of sand and shells so wildly, searching for the good shells, that guards were reportedly stationed to protect the piles of sand and shells meant to rebuild the beach! I know people who went out late at night, though, and poked around after the guards left! There were many trophy shells found and, if I remember correctly, several really great Junonias! So ... just keep those thoughts in mind if COE does the same at FMB! The brittle star is going "Move my little stumpy arm...move my other arms...move my little ...Oy!" Poor little lettered olives! They're probably getting stepped on all day! Such a fun day! Glad I dropped in to come along! Good haul, too! Love to hear the happy in your voice. You must be feeling lots better! Much love until next weekend! R
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife Сағат бұрын
Your time is yours, not mine, so you watch whenever you dang well please! I've heard stories of people sneaking past guards to hunt shell piles! Our beaches will be dredged sand, so there likely won't be piles but maybe there will be some special specimens that wash up! 🙏🏼

Hey SWF Beach Life! I'm planning on going to SWF around sometime in late December or early January of next year to go shelling! I live in Southern California! Your videos always make me feel relieved and relaxed after a long hard day of work!

That time of year I would bring boots in case it's cold, I would plan on visiting Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach, Lovers Key or Marco Island or go on a shell tour and definitely bring a shell bag. With a container to go in it for delicates. I'm going to make a video about the "equipment" one would need in different weather!

So, hopefully, you see my comment. I feel like my comments get filtered out because never do I get a response to any comment that I make like only 1 time has it happened and I was very surprised, but I'm gonna leave a comment here. I wanted to tell you that I think the lettered Olive is my favorite, and the reason why I believe that the Olive is shiny is because they burrow through the sand and they travel along the sand and the sand. Shine, zit up, smooths it out that the sand allows it to get that. Shine on the outside of the Olive. That's what my opinion is, but I don't think anybody really knows a 100% what causes that.
@birdsflowers2289
@birdsflowers2289 13 сағат бұрын
Hi there ! Actually yes, they know what causes them to shine. I was supposed to learn that it is their living mantle that causes them. To be shiny. It is at it 24/7, same reason Cowries shine.. Consider that the cowries do not do the traves through the sand like the olives, yet they are very shiny. This is stuff I am learning. I got in touch with the Bailey-- Matthews National shell museum today. They are so helpful.

I must say I don’t like that they call some of the moon snail shells ‘false’ shark eyes. Just because there’s a different indentation on the shell is no reason to question the creature’s integrity. You’d think it was a politician or something.
