fun fact, 1.4GHz is not only higher than the Switch's stock GPU speed (ofc) but it's even higher than the Tegra X1's actual 1.0GHz stock speed before the Switch underclock, and even with that speed increase, its theoretical GPU performance is still barely over half of the Xbox One's theoretical performance and less than half of that of the Steam Deck or PS4, with the overclock the Switch's GPU goes to a whoping 766 GFLOPS from its stock 393 GFLOPS and 512 GFLOPS from a stock Tegra X1's GPU, however the Xbox One is still 1.3 TFLOPS (1TFLOP = 1000GFLOPS), the Steam Deck 1.6TFLOPS and the PS4 1.8TFLOPS, again this is theoretical performance, which means performance will be decided of sheer power in an ideal scenario where they all have the same level of optimization, it's always up to the developers how they optimize a game to make it run better or worse in a platform or another

@@CrocoDylianVT Not really, It is true that Nintendo switch in handheld mode goes to 512 gigaflops but when you get into the base/dock its power increases to 1 teraflop and 24 gigaflops, The Nvidia shield only goes to 512 gigaflops, this is because although the switch and Nvidia shield have the same chip, the switch's is modified.

@@YAREL_RGP99 bro not even TV reaches over 400 GFLOPS let alone will handheld mode go past 500 💀 256 cores, running between 307 to 460Mhz on handheld mode (depending on the game) 768MHz at TV mode Simple math, 256x307x2/1000 and 256x460x2/1000 = 157 to 235 GFLOPS handheld 256x768x2/1000 = 393 GFLOPS in handheld The Switch's X1 is modified yes, but modified to run lower cause battery, Shield TV runs higher cause it's plugged to the power TV doesn't reach 1TFLOPS, never has and never will without manually overclocking it, the 1TFLOPS is a HUGE missconception and missinformation, in fact, those 1TFLOPS ain't even from the iGPU but from the CPU part, which the Switch doesn't reach either cause the CPU part of the SoC is also capped way below the actual X1's capabilities If it was 1TFLOPS it'd be almost at Xbox One's level instead of being a slightly more juiced up Wii U It's in fact NOT true that handheld mode goes to 512GFLOPS when it doesn't even go over half of that, the Switch is even weaker than what people thinks, it's not just slightly behind the Xbox One and PS4, it's literally at Xbox 360 level with just a bit more power to run the same have the same performance and graphics but at higher resolution, and at handheld it's literally just a handheld Xbox 360

Pro tip: if you use launch arg '--microOverlay' on Ultrahand for Status Monitor then enable launch args, you can jump straight into micro mode instead of constantly navigating the menu.

@@DvdStriker1 I mean, it's not a custom one, it's the switch one, fan + vapor chamber, but yeah, can't keep up. If you want to add a custom cooling system, which is doable, you would probably lose the portability aspect, and I don't think that's worth it

IDK in what world the other guy that answered you is in, but its completely fine, at this point we are more limited by the nintendo switch crappy power delivery system than heat, at 60 celsius we still have around 30 degrees of margin to operate comfortably, plus we are not tweaking the voltage so its completely fine, and even then, if the switch where to overheat it has systems in place to do emergency shutdowns which neither the modchip itself or the OC software disable in any way, shape or form. The cooling system on the switch is more than capable of handling heat of the chip, in fact you could run it passively without the fan and it will still work without issue, you can check SpawnWave video regarding the cooling and at the end he discovered that in order to overheat the switch you actually have to remove the actual cooling system and put the console under blanket or in a closed space without any sort of airflow to let it cook until emergency shutdown. This is a 15W chip not a intel core i9 with a consumption of over 300W, if you are paranoid regarding cooling you can always replace the thermal paste, put it Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, remove the shitty copper shield and make the die do direct contact with the heatpipe, and on of the the heatpipe use some good thermal pads so it uses the aluminum backplate as extra heatsink, but that's completely overkill. 60 degrees celsius IS COMPLTELY FINE and is within expected behavior of the chip, I've been overclocking for the past 10 years and the other dude that answered you is completely wrong.

I don't know much about the subject but to make this kind of modifications you need to have the console hacked, the games the same given that if it is original software the code is closed and not so easy to overclock, therefore it is impossible to play online unless if you want your console to be banned

Estas poniendo todos los componentes por encima de su límite establecido por Nintendo, es como si te pones a correr cinta con 60 kilos cuando no puedes con 30, obviamente hay muchas probabilidades de fallos, sobrecalentamiento y que deje de funcionar por estresar tanto la switch.

@@omarbenhadj-salem705 Siento decirlo pero eso es mentira, realmente lo que estas haciendo con este "overclock" es reestablecer los relojes de fabrica del chip, nintendo cogio el chip X1 de Nvidia y le metio tremenda capada de relojes para hacer que la bateria durase mas en modo portatil, lo unico que quizas puedes llegar a hacer es cargar un poco mas el sistema de distribucion de energia, que igual va olgado porque originalmente se hizo para aguantar el chip en sus plenas facultades, no hay nada que vaya a sufrir por este "overclock" en el sistema, especialmente si has estado haciendo el manteimiento adecuado, limpiando polvo y poniendo pasta termica de calidad.

@@omarbenhadj-salem705 Es mas uno de los puntos que da mayores problemas de rendimiento en la switch es la velocidad de la memoria RAM, usando LPDDR4 deberia de hacer facil los 2400mhz, nintendo la tiene capada a 1600Mhz aun menos en modo portatil, cuando la RAM literalmente casi no gasta nada, ponerla a la velocidad que toca a lo mejor te quita un par de minutos de bateria COMO MUCHO, pero es lo que hace que juegos como Breath of the Wild no vayan a 30FPS clavados, literalmente que la RAM no vaya a la velocidad que deberia es el culpable del 90% de problemas de rendimiento en la consola.

All this overclocking to just scrape 1080p60, this just shows how underpowered the Switch was, hope the next one have at least a 2x performance bump, modern SoCs have actually 8x that but Nintendo really cut corners

The problem was Nvidia didn't care enough to make a custom processor for Switch, so they reused one from 2015 that was made for 4k Android streaming boxes
