With the Booster Course Pass, Nintendo has managed to add in a surprise with basically every new wave, and with there being two available spots for items in the custom item screen, new items may be next to come, so in this video, I go over 50 items that would be perfect for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!

the feather is technically already in 8dx so it wouldn't be hard for nintendo to make it a regular item. the mega i think would end up acting like the mega in tour where it shrinks you after getting hit once.

I’ve seen much speculation about the empty spaces in the custom item screen. I’ve shot most theories about it down, because if you go into many of the battle modes, there are more empty spaces then in the main mode, so unless they added like 15 battle mode exclusives, I highly doubt they’d fill out the empty spots.

Finally I found someone else who realizes Battle Mode has more empty spaces. If there really were new items coming, the empty spots probably would have been represented with question marks, just like the characters. But as far as I'm convinced, it's simply just an uneven grid.

The super bell is already an item in Mario Kart Tour. However, they are only available as special items for certain characters (like the chain dog or the special items in Mario Kart Double Dash). When you get the super bell, it rings three times and emits a shockwave that hits enemies when they are near you and blocks items. Basically like the horn, except that it lasts longer

Several of your items are duplicates of other items on your list. Tornade = poltergeist, plunger = grabber, propeller cap = feather, acorn = revali's gale, fire wheels = golden mushroom. Like, not even kind of different, they're 1:1. And I know you're aware of this because for most of them you either mentioned that they're the same or, in the case of the propeller cap you showed footage of the feather doing exactly what you said the cap would do while stating that they do the same thing. Some of your ideas, in spite of my negative implication about your video, were really interesting and I think would be fun additions to mario kart.

My idea for an item is The Switch, it counts down 3, 2, 1, and then everyone's places are flipped, so first goes to last, last goes to first, 11th goes to 2nd, 10th goes to 3rd, etc. It would be a very rare item

I'd love to see the thundercloud reworked like this: you get the speed boost and off road effect until the timer runs out, and anyone you bump into gets shocked. Think of it as a cross between the piranha plant and the lightning bolt

I mean, lightning, obviously, you're already small. And an alternative would be that it does lower your top speed, but doesn't make you spin out (and when you're already small, pretty sure shocks in general don't make you spin out), so it could be used as a kinda-sorta shock dodge. Of course, it still wouldn't be viable unless some small-only shortcuts are made, so it's probably rather something for a completely new game.

Interesting fact about the Super Bell, it's in Mario Kart Tour with a similar function to the Super Horn, but it activates 3 times instead of one and doesn't destroy the Spiny Shell.

hmm so I kinda reworked a lot of this in my head for whatever reason so here you go: Golden shell: Can target lock on someone like the red one but hits through defences (bc you can block the red with most items in the game) Mini mushroom: Will make you smaller but you gain an increase in acceleration and have a smaller hit box (can be run over and it decreases speed) Cat item: you can go slightly further and basically attack someone infront of you and spin them out ( basically cat version of tanuki powerup in mario kart 7) Red bullet bill: Will go out of their way to hit ppl but lasts a lot shorter than normal bullet bill Drill: Basically like the ghost, you are immune to damage to you and you stay like that a couple more seconds compared to the ghost Ultra hand: Either like pulling someone towards you or just stealing the person's item infront of you Ink Piranha plant: basically blooper, but I think it'd be better that it would just add obstacles to the track and you are immune to it, like ink splotches on your screen and spins you out Nabbit: Just steals coins from the person with the most coins (Only from the people infront of you, if in first place then steals from anyone) Cappy: Only think I could think about honestly was inverting the players controls (would work the same way as boomerang just doesn't spin them out and just inverts controls) The vacuum thingy: Would suck up an item box and some coins to you from anywhere on the map, has a chance to steal an item box the enemy is going to take That’s all my ideas lol, lmk if there is anything else for an idea and I can try to come up with a decent item for it and I hope you enjoyed my ideas lmao

For the bubble I would see it as if you are hit by any offensive item the bubble will pop and you won’t get hit, but explosions from say a Bob-bombs or the Blue shell’s will both pop the bubble and hit the character inside. Mushrooms won’t pop the bubble but hitting a wall a high speeds will pop it

My item ideas! Wrench: A slightly slower green shell, bounces once before breaking however doesn’t break when hitting anyone! Coin ring: Throws 3 rings out in front of you whoever runs through a ring (only one person can per ring) gets 3 coins and gets a very small speed boost Red coin: Gives 1 coin, and if you use 5 of them it gives you triple mushrooms (or a mushroom if that’s too op) (Note: red coins can be gotten in 1st-4th) Blue coin: gives 2 coins! Barrel: It works like a green shell, bounces up to 5 times before breaking, if someone is hit by it they have a much longer hit animation (The length of Mario’s death animation in the arcade DK) Oil Barrel: works like a green shell, bounces five times before breaking, if it breaks makes a oil spill and 3 fireballs, if someone is hit by it their screen gets inked (more ink then a blooper) Sideways spring: Can be thrown out and stays in place, it’s slightly bigger than a banana and if anyone hits it they get sent backwards, it can bounce people back 10 times before breaking Green star: Gives you the speed of a star however doesn’t make people be hurt by you or items not hurt you, however it gives you 10 coins! Stamp: Stamps a person that is shown in a retical, if they use a mushroom or mushroom-like item (Star or bullet bill or mushroom variants) you will also get it and they next item you get hit by they also will get hit by, it goes away after you get hit Fire bar: Automatically spins around you and can hit people, Lasts for a very long time and after used doesn’t take up a item spot (so tanooki but automatic and lasts for a very long time) Fire bubble: gets thrown out in front of you and can hit people but when it goes out then it eventually turns around and then goes back until it hits a wall but when it goes back it could hit you unless you dodge it Ice bubble: Fire bubble + ice flower Crate: Can only be gotten as your main item from double item boxes, when you throw it then it can be broken by someone running into it and then it will split into 3 of your secondary item (when it’s thrown then it uses your secondary item as well as the crate) Piranha creeper: Like a bullet bill that leaves a trail but doesnt move you Flare bomb: Like a bob-omb but when it explodes it makes 3 fireballs

I dont think 2 new items will be in the game since we seen the recent wave added a EXISTING item in MK8 in Battle mode which was the Golden Mushroom, so its POSSIBLE we COULD expect at least 1 new item, but the other slot could easily be the Feather in the other slot so that way we will have ALL of the original Super Mario Kart items in both races and battle modes respectfully.

Personally, the two items concepts i would want are: 1) Poison Mushroom, from the SNES. Peach and Toad used to drop these back in the SNES. They are mushrooms on the tracks that if you hit them you shrink like you got hit by a lightning. I would also make then act luke lighting causing whatever item you were holding spill onto the track. We already have it where mushrooms can be items left on the course, these could be dropped behind you and have a purpleish tinge to them so you have to think twice about hitting a mushroom that is sitting on the track. 2) I personally would like the ice flower to appear. But in doing so they would have to bring back the “frozen” status effect that was in double dash when you hit the freezies on sherbert land. Being frozen stopped all your acceleration (speed was somewhat maintained)and you were locked into going the direction you were facing for 2-3 seconds. The ice flower i would give not as many shots as the fire flower, maybe 5 total but it would be unique. Also if they did this then please revert the freezies on shertbert land to double dash where they froze you rather then just spinning out like you do currently. If not these then i fully support the feather, hearts from dd, the hammer bro hammer and the yoshi egg as pick ups on the track feel way less common and the yoshi eg causes three to appear.

Honestly, a ton of these crazier items would be really good additions, even if they aren't used in regular item drops. Maybe there's an alternate 'item' ruleset called Crazy or Party Mode, where instead of normal items, it would drop them similar to Mario Kart Wii or Double Dash, and have a whole bunch of hectic items keep dropping for maximum carnage, especially if its at a party or get-together with friends.

i was thinking on: Yellow Shell: a Shell that automatically hits an opponent in your Back. Bullet Bill Launcher: Launch 1 to 3 Bullet Bills at will, either front or back. 1-Up Mushroom: automatically saves you from one hit of any item, kinda like a one free pass. Tiny Mushroom: gives you more speed until someone ran over you and/or hits you with an item. Poltergust: works like the Super Horn, but instead of breaking the objects around you, it gets repelled, sending it back to those who used it. Golden Block: gives you random useful objects (such as Mushroom. Golden Mushroom, Star, etc.), sorta like the isolated Item Box that appears on DK Pass from DS.

Some of my ideas: - The black shell or bomb shell: it's a shell that explodes on hit. - banana bunch 64: it's 5 bananas like the old days of mk64 - bubblegum: it's a trap you can throw like a banana but it slows the kart instead. - cloud flower: you can drive on ice without slipping (15 seconds), on grass without slowing (time x2 shorter)and even on air (time X4 shorter, beware) - Big green shell: it's a shell where you go inside it and bounce with it for a few seconds or until you hit a player, beware of not ending driving backward - big red shell: same and it acts like a bill ball until you hit a player or obstacle. Using it in first place only give you a few seconds.

Theres probably a lot of Mario party items that would work too. Mario kart item ideas: Green pipe brings you up a couple spots. Gold pipe brings you to first. Ally item(from super Mario party) they hop on the back like double dash for 15 seconds, helps you handle/steer better, avoid bananas/shells…etc. Kamek item. Flys next to you and puts a “spell” on the people around you. Makes their controls backwards or delayed or like you said makes the screen weird and blurry. Swap item. Swap places with the person in front of you. 16-bit item or retro item. You lay an original yellow item square on the the ground. If someone hits it, they turn into 16-bit(original Mario kart). They can’t jump boost or drift boost while in that form. Hole in 1 item. You lay a golf hole(Mario golf) with a flag sticking out of it. If someone falls in, they get pulled out like if you fell off the map. You can jump over the hole to avoid it. Hole goes away after one fall in. Dice block. This is actually on the track next to question mark item boxes. The dice blocks have special/rare items on them. The block spins you hit it(like Mario party). Whenever you get goes in your inventory. You have to get 2 or 3 matches of the same rare item before you can use it. It’s a gamble either going for the dice block or regular item box. Adds a new level of risk. But the items are really good. Like a gold pipe which brings you to first or everyone losses their items or everyone runs out of gas for 5 seconds lol. I do like your 1up idea. That would work with some sort of inventory system. never expected this comment to be this long LMAO for the 1up mushroom: if you get hit by an item (like a red shell, green or banana) you get the animation of getting hit by you don't lose any speed, and for lakitude: instead of him picking you up and drop you, lakitude throws you with the same speed you were before falling (+ you don't lose any coins) for the bell (cat mario etc...): in a certain way, if you bump in a wall it brings you instantly on the main track with an animation(or shortcut), or if you time correctly, you can jump on the wall. And hop way higher than normal (can dodge any ground item by hopping) for the small shroom: you get smaller hit boxes, you get a speed, acceleration and mini turbo buff. + if used with bullet, it will be smaller but you can turn way more than the normal bullet (so hitting other player and getting coins will be easier). for Cappy: you aim for someone and when you do, you can choose what item to get from that player. you get 3 tries of throws before running out, also if you get 2 items from anyone you no longer have Cappy heart: its an unbreakable shield that protects you from any ground item, bullet bill: bumps you but don't lose speed, shock: gets you smaller but doesn't get stunned, blue shell: same thing but the stun isn't as bad as normal fake item boxe: generally same thing, but if placed near an item box row, then it replaces 1 of it double cherry: the clone of yourself is a hard cpu and share the same items(so whatever you get, the cpu does so and viceversa), if you fall off or get hit you get the place of the cpu fire wheels: you get fire wheels (obviously) get a speed buff and you leave a trace of fire that last 3 seconds the path

I think an alternative to this golden shell could be a version that acts like a green shell, but spawns 1 coin's behind it every second, and it can be used as a slightly better green shell because you can use it to gain coins. The mini mushroom should last 2x the duration of normal lightning mininess but give you a 5% base speed boost and a 20% mushroom and mini turbo boost. Also getting shocked wouldn't slow you down but would increase the power ups duration. So would using a second mushroom. I think the cat bell should summon 1 cat which knocks other racers items off them and onto the ground. It does that for 3 racers and then disappears, or gets hit by a kart or item and disappears. If it gets hit by a kart the kart will flip as if hit by a green shell. The cat will bring you back items, only if they are items that are single use and only effect your karts (mushroom, rocket, star etc) but instead of giving it to you it uses it on you. The idea being the bell annoys everyone but also kind of helps you in an annoying way.

They should add the warp block from mario Party superstars, which 5 you with someone random, so say you're in 5th and use it, you could swap with first or last. Or the super warp which swaps everyone randomly. I could see a lot of rage with that

Imagine a Mario Kart were coins can be exchanged for items, or even, a new mechanic were you could use coins for fusing items! Now coins not only allow you to reach max speed, but you could sacrifice your max speed (coins), and use them for items as an offensive and strategic mechanic. The price for a generic item is (×6) coins. The item you get will depend on your current position. For fusing items, the price is (×10) coins. The fun of the game is discovering all the crazy combinations of items. This are just ideas on top of my head, but, combining: *Banana + Bomb 🍌💣* - Banana Mine *Shell + Mushroom* 🍄🐢 - Shelly Mushroom: besides from giving you a boost, if you bump another player while boosting, they will instanly get hit. - Or a Giga Shell - or a very fast but normal shell *Banana + Mushroom* 🍌🍄 - Giga Banana - Bananashroom: when used, you will leave behind 5 bananas after boosting. *Mushroom + Star* 🍄⭐️ - Super Golden Mushroom: its the star power + a golden Mushroom. *Green Shell (×1) + Green Shells (×3)* 🐢🐢🐢 - Multi Shell: you can throw as many green shells but for only 5 seconds. *Blue Shell + (×3) Green shells* 🐢💸 - Mega Blue Shell: functions as a blue shell but it hits not only the 1st player, but also the 2nd and 3rd player. *Blue Shell + Thunder* 💸⚡️ - When used, while the blue shell moves towards the 1st player, if an opponent is hit by the blue shell, the opponent will shrunk, as well as the 1st player obviously. And so on!! What do you guys think? Obviously, the fusing mechanic should be balanced, not all items could be fused. I was thinking something like Mario Kart Fuse for the name.

Yellow shell:its movement its like the green shell but it jumps while it stays in the track to pound in the ground to make an explosion like the boom box(aka the item that fucks the blue shell up) and if it hits a player that player will spin a lot more than a normal green shell

The missile bill would be the perfect thing to add to blueshells only. Imagine you get a missile bill and everyone is grouped up because of the blue shells. You then use it and you hit everyone on the track. That would be amazing.

I feel like the blue mushroom would be the opposite of the function of the red mushroom in Mario Kart. The blue mushroom would be cool to throw it at another player and would slow them down.

For cappy when you throw it and it hits someone then you teleport where they are and they teleport where you were (also you get 3 throws and you can put it behind you as protection but it takes away one of your throws when something hits it and when 3 things hit it you won't have it anymore)

My idea for cappy is that he would spin around you and either pick up an item that hits him, picks up the item of a player that drives into him or if a mushroom or bullet bill or whatever is being used and that player hits cappy, that item is given to you

There should be exclusive items for every character that only that character can obtain. For examples, mario would get the punch from mario 64, that is a short-ranged attack. For Yoshi, it would be either hitting an opponent with an egg, or eating an opponent and laying them as an egg. For bowser, it would be fire blast, for Kamek it would be magical burst, etc.
