@aeee you don't need to reserch consume. I'm almost positive that it is the basic spell that comes with the lurker automaticly. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that this is the case.

It's defilers who consume and you need to research it. Dark swarm comes automatic but consume is researched

He didnt' research it until it was too late. JD did use consume and you can see it in the VOD. What happened was that he forgot to actually use the energy from consume for dark swarm. His defilers were just sitting there with a crapload of energy the whole time.

Why does everyone think he "forgot" consume? With 400 APM, there isn't a chance that he only hit the hotkey once and then didn't check in on his defiler mound. He built the whole mound late. It was a deliberate tech choice on his part to try and get a knockout punch, and he lost because of it. Give Flash props - he and JD are 1a and 1 in Starcraft right now.

So this is the "forgot to research consume" game I've heard so much about.

He went hive late and built the mound late for him, because he poured resources into the early attacks on Flash's main and then, instead of teching, he used his minerals to set up expos. Flash's counter caught him off guard. Where do they show the mound 3 minutes before he researches consume? It was up for like 25 seconds before he started, and by then Flash was already en route. It was his tech choice to expand and it cost him.

It was going to be unbelievably close, even if he did get consume. The first defilers only came out with Flash already at his production hatcheries. Jaedong should have used the resources on the defiler mound sooner.

*facepalm. Isn't it obvious that JD's build would mean getting late consume? Flash realized this as well as the 20 second difference in upgrade timing and made a perfect late timing push to take advantage of both of these factors. To think, Flash realized all of that while playing the game and people that are watching the game on youtube still didn't pick up on it. He isn't human.

Terran has almost no way to rush. 1 sunken at the natural will stop an early rush. Then by the time terran has enough to rush zerg has muta and if terran tries it's a base trade that they'll lose. Once muta out terran has to stay at base to defend until they have science vessels with iradiate. Zerg can't rush until muta because a small ling force won't do anything and a large ling attack is an all in strategy that probably will fail

I can't believe flash won so easy. Jaedong did the most greedy build possible (2 hatch before pool), wasnt punished at all and did great muta harass. He had 4 producing bases to 2, strong army and good tech. I guess lack of dark swarm helped flash a bit but that timing attack with vessel tank and massive bio ball was just insane

So easy? Flash almost gg'd that was a hell marry attack time. You could see in flash's eyes he was nervous as hell after that match. His consume didn't come in and he appropriately matched Terrans xpo. Obvious u don't play sc, you want to be 3 bases ahead of Terran in late game. If not you will die. So yes he did everything correct. Flash lost so many scvs, won due to consume being late. Also back then medics healed mtiple units, meaning zvt back then is even harder then it is. That's why med/marine builds were used. You could have 3 medics heal 1 rine, also they used to heal bcs. Before they patched it later that year. So yes lots of zergs would die, jaedong revolutionized zvt for everyone. Cause medic/rine build was really op. His muta micro was and still god tier and the fact he killed 2 reinforcement groups. Then even killed 18 scvs+ without losing them all. Is insane. Yes this was flash attacking cause he wanted jaedong to be pressured and not be able to harass as hard as he was. Funny thing is, flash would of lost if consume was finished. Dark swarm would of prevented this and jaedong was in such a high position through out the match. What stopped it was the timing push from flash. Also note a Terran that wanted to push out when they are ready will have about 3 vessels and get up to 9. Flash had 2 and went for it cause he knew he had to go for it. Jaedong was too dominate through out this whole match, if this attacked was stopped he woulda gg'd.

@jackyklei standard for zerg to expand, terran have too much of an advantage vs zerg 1base vs 1base. need to build another hatchery to keep up in production too. 12 hatch easy to defend from Terran too. Very risky not to expand early.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. He forgets one of the most vital spells, therefore he sucks. That's like saying stork deserves to be on B Team because he forgot goon range, sAviOr is a terrible player because he forgot to upgrade Adrenal Glands. It happens to the best of them, you can't even BEGIN to try to argue that means he was outplayed. How can you say shit like that? Check the replay they show afterwards, he started consume only when flash pushed into his 3rd, and he had den up for like 2-3 minutes up already, and thats plenty of time to get consume done. You can forget stuff like that, there are several examples also among pros, like stork forgetting dragoon range. Its not people defending JD thats wrong, its people giving flash credit for JD's once in a lifetime fluke thats wrong.

This date of the match it wasn't patched, where medics could stack heal 1 rine. This was the reason why sky Terran build was so popular it runs over zergs. Since the only units that can 2 shot rines are late game units.
